According to her website, Motta opened her own office in 2017. Imagine 77 similar PI accidents in less than two years filed by the same lawyer.

I'm not familiar with the facts, but this doesn't pass the smell test. Greed is a dangerous thing.

Look up Sean Alfortish. They're an item. He’s a party in these cases. This is going to get very interesting.

77 is a major number, too.

77 is a lot of cases to have for someone who set up a shop 2 years ago. And these are filed cases. No telling how many were settled.

I'm not an attorney and don't know the statutory remedies to fix the issue of high auto insurance rates in LA.

But, the obscene amount of PI TV and Billboard advertising in our State reminds me every time I see one that I'm paying for it.

Are the insurance companies so corrupt that the only way to secure a reasonable outcome in legitimate accident litigation is by lawsuit?

I'm sure there are some but to say most all are this way, as the legal beagles trolling for business imply, is a stretch to me.

What portion of my auto rates cover this cost and associated litigation and settlement expense?

Based on how my rates went up moving back home from Texas, about 25%.

And that is criminal.

Just looked him up. Things will get interesting all right.

For those not in the know, Alfortish is a (currently suspended) lawyer who had been head of the Louisiana Horsemen’s Benevolent and Protective Association. He spent about four years behind bars for committing fraud to ensure a second term as head of the organization and attempting to defeat some board members who had questioned him.

Before that, he was a disgraced sports agent who had funneled money to U of Florida football players in the late 90s.

Him being involved with a massive fraud to enrich himself seems to be par for the course.

This keeps getting better and better. Someone needs to post pics of Motta. She’s a former “actress” with an IMDb page.

Fixed it for you. But, yes, I do mean our current law. We need to:

1) lower Louisiana's jury trial threshold from $50,000 to $5,000 to bring us more in line with other states.

2) end the collateral source rule

3) remove direct action against an insurer.

These three would go a LONG way toward reducing our insurance rates, which are nearly the highest in the nation so that we can feed Gordon & his friends.

ETA: You must be an attorney because I can't imagine anyone else being against these common sense changes.

You have lost your absolute mind. If you remove #3, Insurers would deny all first party claims and all insureds would be screwed. I'm sure homeowners would love that come the next hurricane or flood.

So your view is that an insured---as a party to an insurance contract---wouldn't have the ability to sue his insurer for dishonoring a contractual covenant absent the direct action statute?

This is probably wrong.
