From student loans, to petroleum reserves, the 50 year leech on the taxpayer tit is buying votes in any way he can do it.
He's desperate to appease the citizenry. He doesn't know free market enterprise, so he's doing all he knows to do: governance.

There is a metric shite ton of things to complain about the Biden administration about, this just isn't one.

It is hilarious to make this statement in this particular thread. Choosing to release the congress-mandated 42 million gallons of gasoline into the market at peak demand shows an excellent understanding of how the free market works vis-a-vis a global commodity market. It simultaneously produces the highest price for the sell of an asset while having the greatest easing on gas prices at a time when it will have the most positive impacts for all Americans. Plenty of good examples to bitch about this just isn't one.

We knew it would happen. Elections happen.
You can predict everything Democrats are going to do and they follow it. People like SFP will come on here and say something like the US was due to release some oil reserves anyway because 12,000 dinosaurs died 2.4 millioin years ago and would have wanted that before the election of 2024. Then argue with you for 4 pages increasing his TD.com posts number to like 550,522 posts. Just remember that buffoon called the POTUS got the most votes ever.

Except to the extent this oil could be used toward refilling the reserve.
Why are we simultaneously unloading this oil but looking to buy more from others (other than trying to drag down prices for a while in the run up to the election) ?
You might have a point somewhere in there if this thread was about oil, however, it is about 42 million gallons of gas which wouldn't be wise to use in filling the Strategic Oil Reserve. It is a sell off and closing of the Northeast Gasoline Supply Reserve which has been determined to be too expensive for the utility received.
Further, AGAIN, this is being done by congress not the administration. The administration is only responsible for choosing the timing.

Like we already said the summer before the elections. Shocker. I am going to go out on a limb also and predict voting issues in Pennsylvania and trouble in the Atlanta area also during election day and night.

Proof that the price is manipulated by them hindering US production.
People understand, by raising it the taxes collected skyrocket and make their spending less obvious. Full at pump is over half made up of tax

Is this out of the ordinary? I haven’t researched it. Supply and demand needs to be addressed ahead of time every time. Shutting the country down isn’t the best solution to lowering gas prices. Yes prices are much cheaper, but what’s the point if we can’t go anywhere.
At least something is being done ahead of time in order to make it more affordable. It’s common sense. Is it wrong that something is being done ahead of time in order to address an upcoming potential crisis? We saw what happens when these things aren’t taken care of before they get out of hand. But ignoring it is not the answer.

The Biden-Harris Administration is laser-focused on lowering prices at the pump for American families

The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) has announced the sale of 1 million barrels (42 million gallons) of gasoline from the Northeast Gasoline Supply Reserve
This makes sense. Between the two of them, Biden and Harris might have a collective IQ of 150, so I can understand why it would take “laser focus” for them to come up with the laziest, most shortsighted plan of action.

Just happened to choose an election year.
Also this is 15 gallons of gas for a 2/3 full Tiger Stadium.

The Biden administration targeting their own, who are so stupid that they don't know what they don't know. This is a stage of enticement to get their November fence riders to come on down and not no-show. It's like, telling five year olds you're going to give them popsicles as an alternative to regular food.

This is a trolling attempt. 1000000 barrels is a drop in the bucket.

Your great, great, great grandchildren may need to worry about it. We aren’t running out in the next 100 years. We aren’t even playing around in the largest reserve in the world and never have. Green River formation in the US. Look it up.

I had forgotten that there was legislation passed to close this reserve. Thanks for bringing it up. It does help shed additional light on the issue.
So basically the administration is doing what the law states needs to happen, but they trotted out Jennifer Granholm to talk about how they’re doing this to provide relieve at the pump for the American people.

The sale is a result of the mandate to do so in the appropriations package passed by congress in March of this year for funding the DOE and other agencies for the fiscal year 2024. Congress chose the year and the fiscal year ends on September 30 so it would literally be impossible for the administration to make the sale after the election to fund, in part, the appropriations package for fiscal year 2024.
If you want to bitch about Biden vis-a-vis this specific issue you have to make the argument that his choice of timing for the release is bad. I haven't seen anyone argue that this far ITT.

This is a separate GASOLINE reserve. Not the SPR.
But, in answer to your question, he has not replaced what was withdrawn.
