I know everyone on the OT is a home-owning 6 figure salaryman with net-worths in the millions, but the rent crisis is becoming a really serious issue.

My rent went up $400 a month. Has to be more than a mortgage that I almost assuredly can’t qualify for at this point lmao.

Every time I think I get ahead this economy puts me back on my arse.

I have no doubt the Biden administration will make it 10x worse. Democrats have no idea how to deal with rising rents.

So, I rent a 2/2 in a traditional/normal apartment complex (with a pool and a clubhouse, etc.). My rent is $1,850 a month. After owning a house for many years, renting this little place has been a welcome change of pace.

I can afford it for now, but this place really shouldn't be any higher than like $1,350 a month. Its absurd. And places around me are starting to cross over $2,000 for similar type units.

Just cited a few quotes in the OP but a pro tip for bloomberg is if you look at it on a mobile device and clear cookies you can get thru their paywall

Mortgage rate hikes haven’t dropped home prices to the point people can afford to purchase. This window combined with inflation creates a huge opportunity to raise rent prices. In my market people are simply pulling their house off market vs taking less money. We’ll see how it all shakes out, but short term pain on all sides is inevitable.

But wait, the first black lesbian immigrant press secretary has said that inflation and price indexes have peaked according to their many economists.

Is she lying or is she lying?

The only way rent is coming down is if we create more supply or less demand.

The Biden administration will do one of two things…

1. The will start rent control which will decrease supply and raise rents more

2. They will print more money and give people rent supplements. This will increase demand and raise rents more.

Bookmark this and watch what happens. These politicians don’t care about you, they want votes they can buy with government plans.

When all the dust settles and it is shown just how much money, companies have made because of all this, it’s gonna be interesting

I need to redo my budget today. I think for my family it is around 30% now.

I used to redo my budget only when income changed or after we bought something. Now I have to redo it every month. The trajectory it's on leads to not enough money to pay our bills despite relatively high income.

Wait, are you saying the Democrat $740 billion Inflation Reduction Act didn’t bring down inflation?!?

Well, I, for one, am just shocked.

I can list handfuls of regularly purchased goods that I get that are up in the 50% inflation range over the past year and a half.
Eggs
Meat
Pet food
Cereal
Coffee
Milk

but remember! Muh, Inflation Reduction Act

quote:

By signing the Inflation Reduction Act, President Biden is delivering on his promise to build an economy that works for working families. President Biden is the most pro-worker, pro-union President in history, and the Inflation Reduction Act builds on that legacy.

when do all those union clean energy jobs for hard working americans start up? or when do we start cracking down on tax dodgers and corporations not paying their fair share?

the Inflation Reduction Act was nothing but more pork that our OT "moderates" lapped up and defended.
