The satellite images you see in Google Maps is '80s TS/SCI technology.

I'll be interested when they can strap a gopro to the top of one of these and stream back the footage.

It’s a destroyer not a cruiser

I used to work in the Standard Missile program office for the Navy, the SM-3 is no joke (it is a Missile Defense Agency product). The kinetic kill vehicle has had some challenges but they seem to have turned the corner. Paired with the SM-6 for atmospheric threats and RAM/CIWS for close-in threats, a carrier battle group has a hell of protective shield.

The new threat are Chinese "carrier killer" missiles which are long range cruise missiles. We have a few weapons suites that can counter these, in theory.

Ummm....Aegis just killed an object traveling 7,320 metres per second...Pretty sure that is hypersonic
