I've read a few advanced books on urban economics, it's definitely a fascinating field. I remember reading one book that talked about how the spacing between cities was largely influenced by what crops were grown nearby. What they were saying is that the density of the crops were a big factor in determining how far apart the towns that emerged in agricultural areas that later grew into cities were. (Think about weight capacity relative to volume capacity and how that relates to needed transportation resources).

There is nothing I want more right this second than to ask this women exactly how she thinks a drawbridge should be built that wouldnt look like a piece of metal in the air somewhere.

Even the vertical raise ones have two counterweight towers and you know the place the bridge goes up on
