Some local updates:

- They're now reporting 11 have died. One of those people was reportedly a 3 year old girl with her Grandfather as a customer at Grade A Auto Parts (per word of mouth in the area, not the official report).

- First responders are officially switching from a rescue mission to recovery to protect the health of the crews on scene.

- FBI will take over debris investigation, telling folks if they've reported debris the FBI will be in touch.

- Governor Beshear has declared a state of emergency in order to better utilize the National Guard and other possible services (obviously the shutdown could affect some of the federal). Also opens some monetary services on the state level.

- Telling folks near the airport to not drink their water at this time but outside of a small radius water/air quality is ok at this time.

- LG&E had to de-energize some power and gas lines to residents in the immediate area while they continue to work the scene. Thankfully today has been decent weather but it will get colder throughout the week.

WLKY article with some details

I was thinking (speculating) today this appears to be an absolute catastrophic engine failure like a NHRA engine blows up for it to just fall off after a fire.

Kinda like Southwest 1380 but on the takeoff roll.

Even if they are, people have lost all situational awareness and compassion during events like this. They just want to post shite to tiktok.

There's a guy in our local FB neighborhood group that does this shite and almost caught a charge when a tornado came through our area earlier this year and he was interfering with first responders trying to clear/check an area with his drone. He's a self-proclaimed "unofficial meteorologist".

He was in the group earlier (the post got deleted before I could screenshot it) asking if anyone knew of any good lawyers in the area that would represent him. Apparently he was out at the airport this morning flying his drone when one of the agents working the area shot it down ( ) for interfering in restricted airspace. They then tracked his arse down and he's looking at charges for interfering.

Couldn't have happened to a better guy. He's like the crossfitter of drones.

When you slow it down, you can see the plane go through the power lines and just after that a white flash seems to spark the bigger explosion. Again, the pilots has that plane flying straight and level until the gear makes contact.

Yeah the pilots tried their best here.

Blancolliro ( another excellent air crash YouTuber and pilot) has an update on his channel

Link

In his video he points out the possible compressor stall on the rear engine thanks to all the FOD from the number one engine the first few seconds.

I was getting lower resolution when trying to manually advance the video, but did the tip of the left wing make the contact first with the power lines or transformer causing the first flash (looked like a smaller flash as underside of the wing closer to fuselage crossed wires)

Damn. That's intense. That video shows it going in level until the left wing clipped those tall fuel tanks.

Billy in the grey pickup got the hell out of Dodge with the quickness. That baw no doubt had warrants and didn't want to be a witness of any kind.

Came here to post this exact video. I’d been waiting on his response all day. Blancolirio is the best YouTube aviation incedent investigator.

I think he’s pretty dead on here. #1 separated and FOD’d out #2. Shitty situation. Even if #2 had kept running, what would have become of the fire on the left wing? Depending on what the engine took with it(shut off valves), there could be fuel and hydraulic fluid still being dumped on that fire. Perfect storm for structural failure later in flight. I think these guys were damned from the moment they hit V1.

For any pilots here do you know you are dead in that situation?

I don’t know what you do at 180+ knots.

My best friend is a captain for United. I can’t help but think of him in times like this. I am praying for those families.

Would have been like the Concorde where the wing deteriorates. They were able to fly that Concorde for a couple of minutes until the fire did too much damage.

Sounds like a some serious lack of proper maintenance somewhere along the line.

Exactly. Catastrophic damage that we don’t know the extent of yet.
