with a BAC of .029, he wasn't close to being drunk. However, it would be interesting to hear what a toxicologist would opine about the affect on Alton's coherence given the combination of drugs in his system.

I'll bet his urine smelled like Sugar Smacks.

I wonder if he was in prison the years that he didn't get arrested.

I'm curious if the officers will be held to the standard of the "new policies" or to the standard of the policies in place during the incident. It sounded like the mayor wanted the new policies applied to the chief's decision.

Getting fired is the best outcome for these cops. They would never be able to continue to be cops in Baton Rouge, or South Louisiana. Now, they can sue and get compensated well while going into another field, or moving to a smaller community.

No doubt.

I'd like to imagine some cities/counties/parishes far enough removed from the situation would welcome them on their police force.

Hell, the Catholic church did this for years to protect pedophiles.

Why not use a similar model to protect decent police officers who are unilaterally and publicly persecuted by a demographic in their jurisdiction?

I'm not sure that the Catholic Church is a good analogy here....

Serious question...what have they been doing for the past 2 years? Were they on desk duty or administrative leave?
