Looks like that same plane (WN1380) makes frequent stops in NOLA. It could have been any of us!!!

A Delta MD-88 had an uncontained engine failure at Pensacola Regional back in 1996, I think it was. Two passengers seated close to the engine were decapitated by shrapnel. The plane was repaired and re-entered service, and is still in Delta's active fleet.

I remember that episode, but I don't believe they had the added factor of wind rushing by the plane at 600 mph. That creates suction, just like blowing across the top of a straw. (Of course, not "explosive" decompression...but shite will suck out of that window)
