I know this is an extremely small sample size but I think it is important to know that there are corona cases that are relatively benign. We all had the flu in January and it was 10x as bad. This somewhat supports the evidence that actually contracting the virus requires prolonged exposure.
Sorry about your parents. i hope they recover soon. A sample size of 2 does not support evidence for anything. Scientific studies show that the virus is stable in aerosols for up to 3 hours. Coughing and talking aerosolize the virus. I would like to see the evidence you mention that the virus requires prolonged contact.

I feel for the families that have people in nursing homes & hospitals, and aren’t able to visit.
My friend's mom died this morning (NOLA). She and her brother weren't allowed to visit her in the hospital and they can't have a service. I can't even imagine.

Yeah, I can’t either. That’s really tough.

I would not bet on any research that has come out up until this point. I am just trying to list some facts about the virus and others are more than welcome to come up with their own conclusions. The virus needing prolonged exposure is not a fact outside of my family's experience and a family friend who is a Dr. that works with infectious disease doctors. Again, just putting our case out in the world to help counterbalance all of the craziness.

Give us an update on your mom and dad later this afternoon, if you don't mind.

Test is only 70% sensitive supposedly
That is the Chinese lab numbers, no? US lab sensitivity is being reported at more like 95% IIRC.

That's great. However 80% of people don't want to hear that. They're too busy watching the death ticker update. They don't want any good news, they want a story they can say they were part of. For every death story there are THOUSANDS of stories of winning against this but you don't hear those much on the news. It's not popular because half the world is just happy to stop the world for an instagram selfie to say they were there.
Yes people are dying and every death is sad. They die everyday from other things as well. Before this Covid, 7452 on average died every day in America. Imagine how scared we would all be if the news announced each death every 12 seconds.
Keep calm and wash your hands and don't have unnecessary contact with people (You should already do this during flu season anyway).

Thanks for the updates. How are they holding up now?

Just got off the phone with my dad. He is going on day 2 with no fever and coughing much less today. I could hear my mom in the background talking her arse off and my dad said she is feeling a little better with no fever. I still have no symptoms. Pretty incredible that my mom and I did not get it.
I hope all of you guys that have family members with this have a similar experience. Praying for you guys!

It is supposedly the same strain as the swabs are testing for the Type A you were vaccinated against. Problem is either the vaccine has little efficacy or the virus has mutated some.
