“It’s also expected that there will be enough testing for the general public to justify testing all players, coaches, trainers, etc. before they enter a team facility or a stadium for practice, meetings, treatment, or games. Pre-admission testing on a daily basis will be critical to keeping the virus out of locker rooms, and to avoiding a Bio-Dome approach to playing a season’s worth of games.”

“The official position of the league and the teams surely will be that anyone who chooses to attend a game will be doing so with full knowledge and awareness of the risks, and the lawyers undoubtedly will ensure that anyone buying a ticket expressly assumes the risk of catching the virus by choosing to show up for the game.“

The nfl plans to go on but will the governments of the states allow them to is the real question now. No doubt the owners are ready to go.

And therein lies the reason for all of this from the beginning:

Does Karen, who has never been to a game, approve of this?

I almost hope LA politicians try to cancel Saints games and Mardis Gras.

Would be riots of epic proportions.

If the nfl doesn't happen, then we have bigger problems at that point

This will be interesting as the NFL has the money and firepower to challenge state and local governments in court if they are truly overstepping their bounds.

The mayor can't close down the city for no reason, so the city would have to argue that there was an exigent threat that warranted closing.

With covid numbers going down currently, they won't have that argument in the slightest come September.

Major League Baseball thought that people attending games knew foul balls and bats left the field and assumed those risks by attending games...they even print it on the back of tickets...they are still getting sued and now getting sued a decade after the fact.

I could technically sue you right now. Give me a minute to think of a reason.

Just because they're getting sued doesn't mean it's leading to anything in court. The league may settle to keep things quiet, but simply being sued doesn't mean you're in trouble.

I agree of course. Unless the municipality has emergent new cases even just a few could be used to justify shuttering them. I would love to see them fight

Gayle will tell Sloth and Destroya to go frick themselves. Neither one of them will cancel the Saints, especially a first term mayor seeking a second term.

This is true, but unless it's a widespread issue (and then, wouldn't we all be in more trouble than not having football?), then the league would just relocate that team.

Kind of like the Saints after Katrina. If - for example - the Saints can't play in New Orleans, there are many other cities with stadiums that would happily welcome them on Sundays.

If Destroya gets elected to a second term I’ve lost hope for the city ever getting it’s shite together
