Not sure what the name was but it was a well control team.

I don't understand why they didn't call in a well control team when the fire first started. I know it's not a well but I would think there are similarities between fighting a fire with a runaway well, and a chemical tank fire.

Could also attribute it to them feeling they had an adequate plan. Not necessarily feeling they were infallible, but feeling they had it under control.

I doubt they actively felt they couldn't handle it, but just sat on their hands.

Ignorance of capabilities isn't that uncommon. Not accounting for the actual worst case.

I'm not saying you are wrong, just surprised. Within a couple of hours it seemed their plan was to take a defensive position and let itself burn out. that's a hell of a lot of chemicals to burn out.

Not a fan of over-regulation, but I feel like someone in a position outside the company should have to sign off on these types of plans, and they should have said, no, you need something else.

I won’t put the details of what I know about what happened throughout the day on Sunday and into Sunday night, but they had no fricking idea what they were doing to simplify it.

You could tell that by the news interviewing the VP. Dude was in shock and clueless. No bonuses for ITC employees next year.

They just shut down the Ship Channel from Taylor Bayou to Santa Anna. ITC had a levee breach on their tank farm. Tons of runoff leaving the facility.

DEER PARK, Texas -- A dike wall containing a chemical or chemicals released during the ITC tank farm fire has partially collapsed, according to the Deer Park Office of Emergency Management.

A shelter-in-place has been issued for industrial neighbors and the San Jacinto State Battleground State Park, which closed when the fire started and isn't scheduled to reopen until Monday.
