They knew everything

They aided him and gave the reach around to these pseudo law enforcement officials

Yeah seems like they knew where to ‘discover’ it and decided to show police to keep them looking in that area

News said they were going to go search areas Brian frequented. Did they not advise law enforcement of those areas before now?

his scenario is very strange. The park reopened on Tuesday and, now, suddenly law enforcement is back in the park and the Laundries are called to come and apparently looking around.

Not really. Is there hunting allowed there? Even if not, weather has cooled down and people are probably out and about getting exercise. Wouldn't be that hard to believe that a random person hiking found his hideout especially if it was somewhere authorities didn't believe.

Also, wouldn't doubt the parents initially lied about where he "liked to go" to throw authorities off. When they knew all along a general area he would be, and this just never died down enough for it to blow over and him to return home or whatever.

I don't get it....

FBI "here, let us show you remains of your dead son. By the way, where's those other belongings you were hiding for him, can you grab that real quick!?"

Now we know the parents were called in by LE. They advised LE they were going to go search areas Brian frequented and LE met them there. Lo and behold, articles were found.

Why were they not already searching those areas?

There must be some missing info somewhere. I can't understand why this area was not previously known to LE and searched. Did the parents just suddenly remember this is where he liked to go? I don't think so. Was the area covered in water during the search? If so, why wouldn't they search it when the water subsided rather than open the park? The scenario makes no sense.

Eh I mean its impossible to say. Swamps are thick as shite. Its very possible for something to be 10 ft away and not be seen. Its not really that surprising if this is the case, especially if its in an area that was largely underwater. If Brian did know the area and none of the law enforcement knew it, it wouldn't be that hard to hide in a swamp especially if he took a gun with him when he first left and shot himself early on.

Water has gone down in this area.
As suspected... he likely off'd himself out there.

Huh? So the parents planted fake remains because he didn't live at their house? WTF does that even mean?

The wrench in this is that the park reopened yesterday. The parents told LE last night that they intended to go to the park today to search areas Brian frequented. LE said they would meet them there and did.

Did the parents not tell LE about these places before last night?

Were these areas underwater until yesterday?

Isn't it curious that the parents go into the brush and come out with some of Brian's belongings? (Assuming that an accurate story.)

Is it just a coincidence that the parents decide to search themselves and suddenly things start showing up?

Why is this surprising? I expected the parents to be involved all along. Wouldn't be surprising at all the parents knew the general area that he was hiding out. They let it be, kept quiet awhile. Now its been 2-3 weeks or more and they haven't heard from him and start to get worried, so they decide to go out and look for him where they knew he frequented.

FWIW, I'm surprised the parents even knew. How many 20 year olds parents know the areas they frequent?

That's a bit of a contradiction. Or, are they saying the intital items were found, and then more items were found near the remains?
