The search for missing Gabby Petito reportedly is centering Friday on a particular area within Wyoming’s Grand Teton National Park, according to a report. “Thanks to a tipster who gave a concrete description of #GabbyPetito's van, authorities have narrowed down their search efforts to the Jenny Lake area in Grand Teton National Park,” KSL 5 TV wrote in a tweet. Shannon Baker, a witness, told the station that she and her husband spotted Petito and Brian Laundrie’s van in the Jenny Lake parking area on 5 p.m. on Aug. 25. “I’m sure of it,” Baker said. “It had the black ladder on the back and the two black rooftops on top, the two bars, and we made the comment that would be the perfect little camper van to go around in.” Baker told KSL 5 TV that she didn’t think much of the sighting at first until the story started picking up traction on social media. “I said, ‘Oh my god! That’s the same van we saw,’” Baker said.

This is huge. She may be in the bottom of the lake.

I know she said the power went out in salt lake city but I guess she was calling her dad via the hotel phone? If she was using her cell phone why couldn't she order her food?

because unless its an app, my guess is shes never called in an order on a telephone. which, if true, how the hell did either of them make it this far?

and if BL did park the van at the airport, Long term, his plates got scanned before pulling a parking ticket. so on the way in and out the feds know. but, thats assuming he didnt uber in. or hitch a ride.

That was suspicious and he probably did murder her - or at the very least abandon her in the wild and she has either died since or is severely injured - but I don't think the police interaction is necessarily evidence of anything.

I agree that there is no real evidence of anything in the interaction, but as I observe her in the video and try to read him, I'm coming to the conclusion that they were both up to something strange, and that she couldn't handle it nearly as well as he could. The cops pulling them over spooked her...really badly.

Something I honestly never even considered: He could have brought the body back with him in the van, dumped it anywhere along the way including in a swamp in Florida, and then used the extra days he had to try and get rid of any forensic evidence in the van (which he likely wouldn't be successful in).

The more likely scenario is that she is dead somewhere out there in the vast wilderness, though.

search efforts to the Jenny Lake area in Grand Teton National Park

This isn’t a remote part of the park at all, probably one of the most visited parts and very accessible

I find it kind of strange how certain the witnesses are that this is the van, based on a couple of ladders. It'd be different if they had recognized the stickers on the back of their vehicle or something.

White Ford Transit "van life" vans are all over the road out here.

especially considering that it was NPS bday, and admission to the park was free. Had to have been a very crowded park. You see those types of vans everywhere when you are travelling out west. I would also assume Jenny Lake was likely so crowded that it would be pretty hard to dump a body in the lake with no one noticing. I've never been to Jenny Lake though.

He drove the van back to Florida though, so he had to of gone back at least to get the van

There should be some sort of timeline on the road too. Unless someone else drives for him or he ships the car (both of which create traceable records)?

Assuming he's the driver who does it alone there are stops for food and gas every four hours or so for around four days of driving.

He's on cameras at those gas stations and restaurants all along the way even if he doesn't use a phone. The timeline starts to get narrowed down with a little looking

Yea, but it makes sense. They were supposedly headed to that park. It was likely their van.

So assuming it WAS their van, why did they go to Yosemite and not tell anyone? That’s 800 miles away.

He didn't lie about his phone. He was specifically talking about the interaction of when they were having the argument. He didn't have his phone at that time, or possibly his phone was out of battery. He wasn't speaking of whether he had the phone at the moment he was talking to the police. Rather, he was saying he didn't have it during his argument with his gf. That was a very specific comment about that very specific time frame.

He states that she has "her phone, her keys (then corrects himself), her rings" and says, "I don't have my phone, and if she leaves..."

That makes sense. I hadn't read the post explaining that prior to mine. Thank you.

They probably have all that. In fact the police have said they know a good bit about his travels and it’s very complex. Not sure what they meant by that “complex” but that’s what they said.

There are plenty of conclusions that can be drawn by the general public on this one, but as with 99% of these situations in real life, the clear best option is to go radio silent. Even if it means you get crucified publicly, the best legal option is silence.

Wrong. With 99% of the situations where you are guilty, you are correct. In 99% of cases where you are completely innocent, there’s 0 reason to not have your lawyers submit a statement to police. If I drop a friend off on a road trip and he is later killed in a drug deal, there’s 0 reason to not submit a statement.

Well actually there is, so my lawyers can bill some more time.

Everyone is saying not to submit something to the police, in case he is guilty of something. Well no shite, but no one is arguing that. The question is not, is he guilty or not guilty. The question is, is he completely innocent or not?

If he is innocent, submit something.

Otherwise, this guy should be crucified for life whether in jail or in public for being a POS.

Isn't her likely death/disappearance a few days after the 25th? I haven't studied the timeline that much.

They could be pretty far away from that area in a day.

I don't think that they were ever in Yosemite. I think that it was confused for Yellowstone. Very common occurrence.

So the chick confused Yellowstone for Yosemite? Her text actually read Yosemite. It’s possible and may actually help the dude out if she accidentally said Yosemite.
