There should be witnesses all over the place. A cute woman alone at a hotel does not go unnoticed. A vehicle at the airport should have a record of when it came and went.

When did he return by plane? That doesn't seem to be part of the record released to the public but there's no way the police don't have that information

Sounds like a Natalee Holloway situation.

I'm thinking that several witnesses have come forward probably, police just keeping everything very tight lipped.

Apparently the 23rd is when he got back.

Also I just found that a friend of Petito’s said this to the media, “ The whole thing is odd,” Petito’s friend, who wants to remain anonymous, told the outlet. “My birthday is the 29th. I don’t know why she’d send that text [to her mom] and not message me.

Basically Petito was supposed to text her friend on the 29th to meet in Yellowstone, but Petito never texted her. Then the last text she sends is “no service in Yosemite” to her mom a couple days after.

The friend says she would call as soon as she had service not text her mother. The mother doesn’t think she sent that text.

This could be a huge part of the evidence in the end.

I wonder if that may be true for both of them. Otherwise, why did she need her dad to do the UberEats order when the power was out. If you lose power, you lose WiFi, but you wouldn't lose your data connection.

From KSL in Salt Lake:
quote:

Petito's father, who lives in Florida, said the couple was in Salt Lake City on Aug. 21. He knows because he placed an Uber Eats order for them.

"There was a power outage. She said she didn't have WiFi, so I ordered her some food," Joseph Petito said. "I know it was in Salt Lake City. It was the last time I spoke to her."

Any other scenario is pretty far fetched.

First is that he told the police he didn't have a phone but then she requested the police remind him to get a phone charger before they were separated for the night. So, he lied about his phone.

he was explaining the reasoning behind why he had taken the van and kicked her out, not at the exact moment he was talking to the police. aka, he didnt have a phone when their argument started, or possibly his phone wasn't charged, etc.

He clearly pulls his phone out later in front of the police, so he wasn't talking about at that moment. but, at the moment prior when he and his gf were having their argument.

FBI is focused on Teton NP. Assuming they know she is either lost, or her body is there.

So they could only communicate in towns basically where a WiFi signal was present? So if that’s true, then maybe they can find out what WiFi her phone was attached to when the last message was sent.

This is just him not trusting the police. Once the police are in there looking around you aren't getting them out.

Cops are nosy.

Don't ever let cops in your house or in your car without a warrant.

Zone of death is close by in Yellowstone though I’m sure it’s unrelated.

Probably. Seems consistent with the van life do things cheaply idea.

So they legitimately may have only been able to use the phone when they were piggybacking on free wifi.

But he's been established as being back in the same location as the missing woman after returning? Or we are left to presume that they reunited because he flew back.

There have to be witnesses and receipts for food every night she was in the hotel eating food her parents were paying for right (including until the boyfriend returned)? I assume the police don't want to release that information yet?

I don't think this is suspicious at all. I don't have anything illegal or suspicious in my car but I would never just volunteer to let cops go looking through it.

That was suspicious and he probably did murder her - or at the very least abandon her in the wild and she has either died since or is severely injured - but I don't think the police interaction is necessarily evidence of anything.

Also the dad ordered her food, so if she had the van she probably would have gotten it herself.

Which is weird. I know she said the power went out in salt lake city but I guess she was calling her dad via the hotel phone? If she was using her cell phone why couldn't she order her food?

This is a good question. The mom said she FaceTimed with Gabby after he had returned, but there is no mention of him being with her. She also posted on Instagram a picture that he is seen in on the 19th. Could have obviously been taken before it was posted if he was gone then.

This is the only thing that makes me think Laundrie might be innocent.

Maybe the parents are in on this whole thing and it’s an attention ploy. Why order her food in such a weird way? Why wait 10 days to report she’s missing?

Because she said “no service in Yosemite”. Guess they waited until they figured she’d have WiFi access.

He didn't lie about his phone. He was specifically talking about the interaction of when they were having the argument. He didn't have his phone at that time, or possibly his phone was out of battery. He wasn't speaking of whether he had the phone at the moment he was talking to the police. Rather, he was saying he didn't have it during his argument with his gf. That was a very specific comment about that very specific time frame.

He states that she has "her phone, her keys (then corrects himself), her rings" and says, "I don't have my phone, and if she leaves..."
