The hitchhiking thing makes me think she left him on the side of the road somewhere and he tracked her down via hitching a ride with strangers. Right? Or we have established a better scenario for why he was hitchhiking? I've lost track in this thread

Does the technology exist to track the movement of their cellphones through Google Maps or by some other means? Could they trace the parents' movement and know if they planted the car at the preserve?
I forgot to turn off the location thingy in my phone and Google sent me an email showing where all I had been the previous month.

Google sends me a monthly summary of where I've been. My ex wife routinely requests permission to see those movements.

How many fricking hitch hikers does one pick up? Even in jackson hole it’s not exactly normal. I mean a guys all over national news, and it takes you a month to realize you may have picked him up? Wtf

I wonder how much the parents actually know. I'm not defending them per se, but I feel like the cops already offered them immunity to get Brian back alive. So while they may have even helped him leave, they might not necessarily be able to get in contact with him now. It will be interesting to see them go in front of a grand jury.
(I'm not defending these assholes. I'm merely saying that we don't really know who knows what and it will be interesting to see how they go about this.)

I don't doubt it. I just think it was a really stupid thing to do. And, as it turns out, she picked up a killer. She could be lucky to be alive.
She could have great use of one of the most overused phrases on the OT:” could have been me!”

2. When the voice mail and text messages popped up on her phone, the ID would have been the name she assigned to his number..."Pops", "Grandpa", or whatever.
My wife could leave town and forget her phone on the counter and I would never look at it or touch it.

If he doesn't have his phone and they haven't been reloading a gift card or something they probably don't know much.
Unless he told them everything. Which would be dumb.
Carmella-What the hell is going on?!?!?
Tony-After 16 years don't make me make you an accessory.

Laundrie left his parents' home in North Port, Florida last Tuesday WITHOUT his cell phone and wallet. The source also said Brian’s parents were concerned that he might hurt himself
This doesn’t mean shite bc we know they helped him disappear.

How do we know he didn't buy a burner phone with the cash he took out of her account? No way this guy is walking around without someway to communicate with the outside world.

From what I've read lately and in the past, it's pretty difficult to convict someone of accessory unless they were involved in the crime itself. You'd have to prove that they knew they were helping him get away from a murder charge which is hard in this case since he hadn't been charged with anything until today. I read somewhere that the parents were meeting with new lawyers today which would be telling. Also, as far as I've heard, they haven't cooperated with the police or given any kind of official statements so they couldn't have lied on record, which is one way they could be charged with obstruction. It really seems to be true that if you lawyer up and stay quiet, the authorities don't usually have much on you. By talking you're giving them something to use against you one way or another.

Which is why you’re an idiot if you ever take your phone with you while committing a crime.

Which is why the proliferation and ubiquity of smartphones has to be the biggest gift to LEO after the Patriot Act. It really is a wonder anybody gets away with anything any more. When this is said and done, cell tower pings and GPS will be what puts Brianne away.

Probable cause that they aided and abetted? I think they could convince a judge.

How? He wasn't even officially wanted until today. As far as I know they could have paid for him to fly to a 5 star resort in Thailand. There is no aiding and abetting at this point. Now if they have some evidence to show that the parents knew from the beginning that they were helping him evade a murder charge then that would be different. But based on what we know that isn't the case, or they could have charged them days ago.
