You have said numerous times you don’t really know him.
ETA: and are they shocked he Could do this, or that he actually did it?
Big difference.

But a dozen of my friends (several posting in this thread) are very close to him and have known him for decades and they are saying this.

I'm not arguing it's only because he's white. I'm arguing that people are looking at the total package, INCLUDING the fact that he's white, and the totality of the victim, INCLUDING the fact that he's black, and they're more inclined to give Ward the benefit of the doubt than they would be if the roles were reversed. Plain and simple.
I think you're completely kidding yourself if you believe race plays no part in the way some people are viewing this.
I think a well dressed working college grad black man, who killed a homeless looking white older man who lived in a project housing, would play out almost identical on the OT.
And yes, you said earlier if you simply reverse the races only LSUtangerine would be posting in here
So yes, you made it only about race.....

Those are court worthy character witnesses.
That goes both ways.....Im sure Red has a lot of people that have know him their entire life that are court worthy character witnesses that will say Red wasnt a panhandler and was the nicest man they've ever met and didnt deserve to be kicked in the head to death...he would have never bothered some random white kid walking down the street.

You are not living in reality. Things escalate. It starts out as panhandling then an argument then a fight then someone is dead. That is how a realitively good guy goes to prison for manslaughter. It his his fault and he will pay the price but guys like Catapiller could be right. This could be an anomaly.

I think you're wrong. I'd like to think you're right, but I can't. I've been around this place too long.

Just give it up bro, I realized yesterday that its pointless trying to argue anything about him. People here make up their minds before they finish the first page of the thread.

Him being white is going to be a detriment rather than a benefit. The jury will most likely be able to relate more to the dead man than Garret. I really feel bad for OJ that he was black........

Is this kid from the Ward construction family?

I'm sure.
I never said he bothered Ward or provoked him or started the altercation.
I just said I'd rather wait for the facts the prosecutors come out with and hear the defense. I also said, according to many people I know that are very close to Ward, that this situation is very out-of-character. That, in no way, means I think he's innocent. It just adds to the confusion of the situation.

If you switch the races and keep the same backgrounds of the attacker and the victim. You guys argued a few friends of the attacked would want the facts to come out. I conceded that may be true. I don't believe a single non-friend/family member would ask to wait though, other than LSUTangerine.

sounds like something a pitbull owner would say after his dog chewed a babies face off

I was startled by a bum at the Chevron across from the River Center during Spanish Town Ball a few years ago.
He got a swift defensive shove to put distance between us and he cussed me as I bolted back to the River Center. I was nearly blacked out drunk and vaguely remember the incident. But I'm certain I didn't ponder pummeling the guy for being too close to me when he asked for a cigarette(I had just bought some for some chicks).

Equating a simple animal bred to be aggressive with a complex human that people from all walks of life have known for decades is both intellectually dishonest and embarrassing.
I will not take anything you say seriously again.

25 year old working college grads with no criminal backgrounds dont.......
This would be the equivalent of a well trained golden retriever, who graduated obedience school, who never attacked before, killing a weak old person unprovoked.......
That can and has happened before I am sure, but it is unusual and makes people question it logically
