Just curious, could the families between both parties make a deal? Like a 1 million dollar settlement
No, it doesn't work like that.

Where has it been reported that there is a video? I've missed that.
From what I recall, it's just speculation that one might exist with security cameras in the area.

What kind of sentence does battery hold vs murder?

I know this might sound bad, but you can argue his defense got easier when the victim died. The consequences are much more severe if he's found guilty, but there is one less witness involved, and an important one at that.
Unless there's security camera footage showing what went down then thats more damning than the other man's ever saying anything at all.

Know him very well. Sad situation because it’s completely out of his character. A very solid guy from the 6 years I’ve known him.
Eta: Not sure what happened but it sucks for all involved. RIP to the older man, just a horrible situation

Yeah, we've heard he's a really good guy. Old man just caught him on one of his off days, very unfortunate for that old man, he should know not to mess with good people.

I would think it's possible if zero facts and evidence are released then maybe the two sides could come to a settlement
I figured shite like this happens a lot in cases that don't blow up in the media. It's only relevant bc it's BR and we are on TD

I got arrested in new orleans for pissing in an alley off bourbon about 15 years ago... they brought me to opp and after a couple hours when i was changing into the orange to go to GP the phone rang in the little room and a guard came and got me. If my friends wouldnt have got me when they did it woulda sucked pretty bad. Ill never forget what that phone ring sounded like...
General population in OPP for that...

I still don't think he could have flown anywhere during that time because he was still being charged with battery. His charge was upgraded to murder after the man died.
It is unlikely prior to the APB (and even possible after it) that he would have gotten caught flying. If I was going to run I would personally have driven and crossed into Mexico in Brownsville headed to an international airport and flown to the country of my choice. However, doing this and funneling the money is not as easy as people think for the average upper middle class family.

I would take a page out of Ray Donavan. Hire a badass prop person and create a fake suicide video.

I wouldn't be overly concerned with $$. I'd be happy not to be facing life in prison.

Second degree battery is up to 5 years in prison.

I’ve read a few of your posts here and you could not be more wrong or misinformed if you tried.
It’s scary to think dudes like you walk amongst us.

Never mind the legality. What makes you think this guy or his family can just snap their fingers and come up with a cool million in cash?
You read the OT too much. It's usually not that easy.
