He didn't turn himself in. NOPD has been looking for him since Jan. 19th which is why they issued the APB out on him to the media today.

If he did, he must be pretty confident either in his defense or that his lawyers can at least get him a reasonable bail, giving him the option to jet later because with the way It's being portrayed so far, taking his chances on the road might be the better option.

I think they'd take his passport.

I firmly believe innocent until...

The video will tell us all if the kicks in the head were justifiable etc

We are all speculating. This dude is responsible for his actions obviously. I would be pissed at myself that I ruined my life for a homeless 60 year old man. If this was a Dwi, I wouldn't feel that way obviously. Something happened and I'll wait for the facts to come out.

Is their a possibility that the tape gets destroyed if this dude was homeless to prevent from having to throw the white dude in jail? We are Louisiana and it's pretty possible with the right contacts and money

Was not turning himself in an option? How could that have ended up well? I don't think he can fly anywhere if he's being charged with murder. Someone please feel free to correct me if I'm wrong.

You’re knighting is making me sick.

If he would have turned himself in this morning he would have been processed and booked already and NOLA media would have been all over this.

Unfortunately he seems to be from a middle class background (apologies if incorrect) which puts him square in "make an example out of him" territory.

No, it's not an option but I was thinking of GTFO before the guy died.

It took 2 weeks so he had the time.

the problem here is that he alledged to have kicked the guy in the head when he was already out, he is going to prison if that is true. That being said, nobody knows what really happened at this point

I suspect he fled when he found out the soon to be deceased victim probably wasn't going to make it out of the hospital alive. He could have flown out then because he wasn't charged with murder. However the smarter thing to do is to charter a private plane out of the country.

If he is gonna run it should prior to turning himself in. The bail will go up so more for his parents to lose and in the jurisdictions I have practiced in (not LA) he would ABSOLUTELY get an ankle bracelet and have to relinquish his passport if he has one. I have no idea about bail here but all the 2nd-degree murder bails I have seen set were between 500k and 1m.

2 pages, maybe 3 if the trolling is good enough. Racist joke with a bunch of upvotes and a few “dindu nuffins” posts.

6-10 pages, more if it was a unique case. Few bans. Racist jokes. Generalizations. A page of statue jokes if it was in Nola. 1.5 pages of politics. Some guy posting that he lived in place of incident, but glad that he moved out.

He was out working showing houses yesterday. He wasn’t hard to find.

His employer didn’t even know he was wanted until today.

Fleeing would still suck and I don't think anyone younger than 45 could be careful enough to not get caught.

Basically he has been raised with social media and technology his whole life, to have the ability to just turn it off like that would be hard for someone his age.

Hell when people lose their iPhone it's like life is over until they get connected again

I still don't think he could have flown anywhere during that time because he was still being charged with battery. His charge was upgraded to murder after the man died.

Just curious, could the families between both parties make a deal? Like a 1 million dollar settlement

Where has it been reported that there is a video? I've missed that.

I know this might sound bad, but you can argue his defense got easier when the victim died. The consequences are much more severe if he's found guilty, but there is one less witness involved, and an important one at that.
