You have access to the right database? Is it possible he has a history in a different Parish that isn't accessible by Orleans Parish?

Interesting how I lived within a few hundred feet of Tigercross for a couple of years and I just learned that bc Baton Rouge’s answer to Robert Chambers had a rage fit in front of the Red Zone.
If I’m Ward’s lawyer I would definitely be reading this thread to get an idea of public sentiment. Clearly this mugging idea isn’t gaining traction, even from a favorable demographic.
The surveillance videos will be very interesting. I think they alone could put Ward in jail for 30 years.
Also curious to see who the witnesses are. My guess has been either Pontchartrain valet guys or Red Zone managers the whole time. Based on where it happened (and when), I think the usual panhandlers are gone by 8 or 9.

He probably has access to III (Interstate Identification Index).

Based on posters here that know the area and know of this man, there's no chance at the mugging angle. Then you consider he had no weapon, no criminal history, was suffering health-wise at an old age, AND was less than half a mile from his own home? And the person he supposedly tries to mug is a big burly white dude that isn't from the area?

Based on posters here who frequent that area and see him frequently he was never at any point a panhandler. So the panhandler angle is also a no go.

yeah, Ward is done.

Yeah, I lived in that area for 3 years and never saw the guy. There are probably 3-4 people who I would recognize as regular panhandlers, primarily the guy who would smoke cigars and read books outside the Red Zone.
I am more interested in the witnesses. I think with good surveillance footage, they won't even be needed. But in the absence of surveillance footage that is conclusive, they could be important. If the eyewitnesses are those Egyptian brothers at Red Zone or any of the young valet guys, then I think Ward is toast. Those are all guys who come off unbiased and pretty reasonable.
If they are pandhandlers or drug addicts, then it might not move the needle much for the prosecutors.

So what happened with the beating of the woman?

hmm:
seems the red zone people also saw a woman .. ?
obviously this is "old" and unverified but I suspect they would be key witnesses in this one way or another if needed

Sonya Schnyder, 57, said her ex-husband loved walking from his Central City apartment in the Guste high-rise to the French Quarter and back in the evenings, and she assumes he was doing that when he stopped at a store he frequented and was attacked.
Kenyada Schnyder said she talked to people who worked at the store and knew Jackson’s name because he cashed his monthly Social Security checks there.
They told her that Ward was hitting an unidentified woman and Jackson asked him to stop.

Still have no confirmation there even was a woman. Probably won't come out for a bit though.

One would think that if she saw Ward beating the elderly gentleman then she would have stayed to talk to LEOs

So I read Ole boy is out the pokey. That’s good. Hope he gets to enjoy Krewe Du Vieux. He should hook up with Olivia Matte and they can do hot rails together.
