Idiots. If it’s that dangerous to go in and save them, what the frick were they doing going in there in the first place?

The cave was dry when they went in and was a popular tourist spot.

Rain season wasn't expected to start for another 2-3 weeks. It started early this year. I don't think people on this board grasp how much and how fast it rains there.

Doing human stuff . Humans accept risk and sometimes bite off more than they can chew. In those times, recognizing that innate trait that lies to some extent within all of us, we suspend judgment, extend compassion, and do everything we can to help.

How would you drill, and where would you drill into? Seems that that would be extremely difficult to plan and execute on the side of a mountain, and also be very expensive. I’m sure they are looking into the feasibility, though.

A lot of people here can’t fathom how they got in the cave and why they can’t simply just leave the way they came

Claus Rasmussen, who is part of the rescue team, said the boys have told divers they heard dogs barking, a rooster crowing and children playing.

Are they sure they aren’t just losing it?

Can't imagine trying to teach kids who cant swim how to survive something that killed a Naval diver. To suit up in scuba gear and not panic, then enter water and not panic, then go into a hole full of water blind and not panic?

Probably easier to sedate them and tape scuba gear to their face and drag them out.

I would think that risks potentially sealing the cave off and making even resupplying them impossible.

The last thing we need in this situation is another one of Elon Musk’s publicity stunts.

They have been doing it and lowered the levels significantly. But if it rains again, as is forecast this weekend, it will fill back up faster than they can pump.

Shut up, stupid.

Todd Hoffman could have that shite pumped out in 48 hours.

Todd would propose they move to a new cave system where rescue might be easier

Elon Musk has offered to provide a length of flexible, inflatable nylon tubing to extend the full distance of the passage, through which the kids would crawl. So far no takers.

That sounds risky as hell. Gotta worry about where the displaced water goes during inflation, what happens if there’s a tear in the nylon or more rain while the kids are crawling out, etc.

Then again, if the alternative is waiting four months...
