Did ready correctly that this team wandered into this cave after a picnic?
Expect the coach to get caned.
Nothing but praise for the coach. He is an admirable young man who overcame losing his entire family to an illness as a child and grew up to be a good and caring man who is very involved in doing good things in life for others. He is a victor.
Compare him and his life and how he has lived to the terrible tales of woe from our millenials who have everything and can't even get over BS that didnt even happen to them and assure us that they are tragic victims forever.
The coach is a good dude.

SIAP but how and why did the kids get where they are?
Posted on 7/8/18 at 11:57 am to Palmetto08
They were spelunking and it started raining.

Wait I was told in the Q thread that these boys were brought into the cave to become part of the human trafficking/sex slave ring between Thailand and Myanmar.
I knew there would be some BS in that thread about this. There are plenty in there who will believe it despite how implausible it is.

ETA. The concept of diving into a flooded and unmapped cave complex with a limited air supply is something on which I will take a pass.
That’s why no one will remember your name.

I just want to say the balls on these divers is incredible, especially after one has already tragically perished. None of them should ever pay for a beer their entire life after this. Literally taking off oxygen tanks in dirty and muddy water, knowing and seeing the risk first hand.

This. You can be a good dude who made a bad decision, and even saying this was a bad decision is not telling the whole truth. They took a risk that apparently a lot of people did, and unfortunately storms decided to hit the area early.

The coach kept those boys quiet, taught them meditation (if they were just beginners at it before) and how to survive until the divers got there. One week in the dark because their one flashlight did quit on them.
News sources report that after a ten or 12 hour rest, this will resume (and presumably others are changing out and restocking the Oxygen cannisters.)
So...tonight from 6pm onwards (eastern) expect activity lightly reported on, but happening nonethe less

This has been a wonderful turn of events. From the sounds of it I didn’t think they’d make it out.

Went spelunking as a team building activity. Heavy rains flooded the cave. They kept moving deeper in the cave because it was flooding and that’s the only way they could keep from drowning. Got stuck on a ledge and sat there in hopes the water would subside or someone would save them.

That in itself is an incredible feat. The mental/emotional care and skill he used to keep them all in good spirits and keeping their faith about their survival is phenomenal. People can go into shock easily in such conditions and all they had to offer each other was mental comfort and strength.

As much as this has been a tragedy (as we lost a diver) and a very tension filled experience... it also brought people of all nationalities, race, religion, political views, etc together for one common cause with everyone devoted to the safety and rescue of the kids and coach.
So many people have come forward to devote time, money and even risk their life for this. Bonds for life have been established, even if they never see each other again (as people are from all over the world).
As scary as this story has been, people and their true character and goodness are shining thru and getting the job done.
I'm so tired of political BS and fighting in the headlines. The only fighting in this story is everyone united to fight the same enemy (water, conditions and time) to save the boys. Even Seaworld (who get slammed so much) was on the spot with tons of equipment and help from the beginnng.
Good job World!! I'm so proud of y'all.

They went CAVING, not cave diving. Due to the flash floods some actual cave diving is now required to exit.

Point taken. Changed to spelunking because that’s more fun to say than caving

Just wanted to say you've been awesome in all of your post with the info and comments. That is greatly appreciated!!
Also wanted to include some of the notes that parents sent to the coach after he sent a not and apologized for what happened.
Coach had sent a note saying to the parents ""To the parents of all the kids, right now the kids are all fine. The crew are taking good care. I promise I will care for the kids as best as possible. I want to say thanks for all the support and I want to apologize to the parents.""
The parents wrote back:
""We want you to know that no parents are angry with you at all, so don’t you worry about that.""
"Don't blame yourself" wrote another.
It was sweet that the parents wrote notes to the coach. He is a young man who lost his mom and dad as a child. There is no mom or dad for him out there praying for his return. But the children's parents have that covered.
Although he is an adult and not their child, they have sent him letters of love and asked him to take care of himself because they worry about him. So in that sense he does have parents out there who are anxiously praying for his safe return. I am sure that means the world to him and he deserves it.
