She seems like a good kid. You probably like being her neighbor quite a lot, I suppose?

Just be nice and appropriate to the family and don't be creepy or inappropriate. Nothing wrong with being neighborly.

It’s like you are trying to establish an alibi. Everyone knows that people like you keep trinkets from their victims.

This is an insanely cute story.

(Assuming a lot of things obviously).

“ A single man with NO kids shouldn’t be having any contact with 8 year old girls in his neighborhood, other than a smile and wave with at least one of her parents present, it’s zero contact. Don’t put yourself in a position that could come back to bite you in the arse. What’s so hard to understand about that?”

I agree with your statement but can not help but to think about my childhood and old shows like Dennis the menace and his relationship with adult neighbors..sorta a sad statement of todays world ..

Thanks - it's a very wholesome hood all the houses were built in the 1950s all MCM and all families except for me (I bought this place with my ex 5 years ago now). So they knew my ex (although that was 2.5 years ago now) and most everyone knows that I've been changing careers, dating here and there fixing up my house and working on my gardens etc. It's not creepy like some lads on here are saying, but with that said I do want to be very careful in how I come across.

That's exactly what it's like. It's a cul de sac and everybody knows everybody's name just about. People watch each other's pets and water each others plants when out of town. It's partly why i stayed here after the breakup instead of selling and downsizing.

That's what I've said this entire thread. I interacted with adults in my neighborhood when I was a kid during the 70s. It's a sad state that when an adult male responds to an 8 year old's innocent attempts to engage, he's looked at as suspect and creepy. 99.9% of these interactions are going to be innocent and a positive for both sides. People are so warped by the relatively few incidents that they can't see that they are the rare exceptions, not the rule.

The problem is those “exceptions” are fricking devastating.

OP checks off a lot of boxes too. 40yr old, single white male. Dresses like a 25yr old hipster. Lives in a house ripped out of the 50’s/60’s. I could build a pedo profile relatively easily on Winston.

Does the fact that your front door is painted like a schoolbus have any hidden meaning?
