I remember when I was younger, we called this "late July and August".

It should always be called the Gulf of America.
Continent of North America touches 3/4 of it. Not just Mexico or the United States.

But I’d crawl to the polls to vote against a complete dumbass and I made sure to even though it didn’t matter in the state I live in at least I had the choice of doing it, for now until the idiot takes that right away. It’s not about political parties now since the republican party doesn’t exist anymore, it’s about do we want a dictatorship. I’m against it.

You people do realize that the gulf is located in the middle of North America, Central America and South America, right? Gulf of America is the correct name.

Regardless, Gulf of Mexico is the universally accepted name. This is not something I care very much about, but just out of habit I’ll probably always say Gulf of Mexico.

it gets hot in the summer BREAKING NEWS

Since I see this during every year, and those same people saying “where’s global warming” during the winter if it’s cold, is there a temperature that would constitute saying it’s getting warmer? Feels like it could be 140 degrees and someone would say “well yeah it’s summer it’s supposed to be hot”

Maybe it’s just me, but I feel like it’s usually consistently unbearably hot by this time of the summer. It hasn’t really been like that this summer to me yet. I feel like it’s been a below average summer.

This has to be true. Especially on the Northshore, we haven’t gotten nearly the rain as the surrounding area but have gotten notable temperature drops that usually come with the rain. Cloudy days that don’t break 90.

Yesterday was hot AF and we have had 50-60 days like that for the past however many years can remember

I know not one signal person who in conversation says Gulf of Mexico because there’s only one the Gulf. Nobody that’s actually uses it gives a fk what you hang of the back of it

Exactly. Usually just say the Gulf. It’s not like anyone would get confused.

Wow... summer in the South. Whodathunkit?

And since 1993 means 2 things:

1) it was hotter 32 years ago
2) it hasn't been that hot over the last 32 years (global warming says what)

I love all the alarmist freaking out about this heatwave as if we did not have an extremely mild summer in Birmingham last year. Don't get me wrong, its been brutally hot and humid but its not like this is some unfounded surprise event that summer in the south is hot.

The rest belongs to America

Mexico is part of America. So in a roundabout way, calling it the Gulf of America is more inclusive.

I’m not a big fan of the “feels like “” temperatures. It’s 90° and it “feels like“ 105°? No. It’s 90°. This is what 90° feels like.

And why don’t they apply the humidity “feels like” factor into winter temperatures?. Like “it’s 32° today but with the humidity, it only feels like 45°.”

And why don’t they factor in the wind in the summer like they do in the winter? Like “it’s 93°. But with the breeze, it only feels like 84°.”
