Topgolf could move closer to building in Baton Rouge with zoning vote today

The popular golf, entertainment, food and booze venue Topgolf could move one step closer today to building a Baton Rouge location, as the Dallas-based company will seek a zoning change for a site near Interstate 10 and Siegen Lane.
Topgolf, which applied for a building permit in late August, is looking to start work on a facility where the old Tinseltown movie theater once operated. But Topgolf will need East Baton Rouge Metro Council approval to rezone the site to allow it to sell alcohol, as the entertainment venue is well-known for its extensive bar menu and snacks like donut holes oozing with jelly.

The applications Topgolf filed with the city-parish seek permission to build a 31,754 square-foot commercial space with a restaurant that also serves alcohol.

The Planning Commission staff has recommended approving the rezoning, saying it meets the criteria of Baton Rouge's Unified Development Code

Yay, let's make sure we are making big national companies who want to contribute to commerce in the area jump through as many hoops as possible before we "let" them do so!!

Get ready for BucEE’s #2 where the City Council accuses them of racism for building near affluent folks who play golf and the company gives the middle finger to the city.

What cities don't require planning commission approval?
Baton Rouge's planning commission is actually known for being very developer-friendly. This will pass easily.
