Same here. Let your work speak for itself. I don't want to see hashtags if I had friends and family in this missing.

I'm not saying you are wrong, but in the fog of crisis, stories get turned around. Remember the hundreds of people shot at the dome/MCC during the days after Katrina? Everyone knew that was true to.
This is a freaking awful, awful situation, if this indeed happened, it will absolutely come out.
This. Still early and lots of conjecture flying around. We may find out rescue ops were suspended for safety reasons even though they knew where the survivors were. It’ll be better if we just wait for the facts to come out.
Then, if the crew really did chicken-shite out, they need to be thrown in the brig for a
Long time.

I've got a good friend on FB who has a friend whose dad was on that boat and HAS BEEN RESCUED yesterday. Praise God and prayers that all will be.
Someone also posted that their dad was "superintendent over that vessel".

Yes there pipelines all over the sea floor but the captains on liftboats have maps in the wheelhouse of the existing pipelines that run along the Gulf floor. Liftboats jack up all the time during rough conditions while in transit. If you've worked on & had to travel on these vessels, at some point you would have experienced this.
What does a "punchthrough" describe? Is it just piercing the bottom? Piercing through till you hit pipes/cables? A couple in here have used that term, but I don't know what it fully describes.

Not familiar with these vessels but doesnt that all go out the window in a situation like this?
Yes but it takes time to pre load the legs. He didn’t have time. If you look at his track it appears he was attempting to skirt the cell or out run it.
Explanation of pre loading
quote:
The preload takes the form of seawater pumped into tanks inside the hull. Once it has been pumped on board, it will then be help for a certain amount of time. Preloading is only complete once there is no settling of the legs into the soil during the holding period, while also achieving the target footing reaction.

IDK how to post photos super quick but I see someone asking for prayers as a "man was lowered onto the jack up and the compartment is completely flooded"
And I see a report of the lift up being searched 3 hours ago.

Also, I am assuming the weather forecast was off? No way the captain went out knowing what the conditions would be.

Is that one that we worked on?

unstable seafloor or pocket underneath leg pad. If you jack down and have a punchthrough under a leg the boat can/will roll over due to load not being carried by all legs.
They have alarms that sound when the vessel starts to list from a punch through.
think about jumping out the boat in the marsh and your leg sinks up the hip because of the mud.

2 hours ago someoone posted that there were 3 on the boat that they were trying to get to.
I'm reading FB page SL Scanner fyi.
8 am update from "someone whose husband is out there" on a nearby platform
"7 are safe
2 are on the boat since last night but they were having trouble getting them from the wind and the waves
(There was 3 but one fell and they were able to get him out)
9 have not been found yet
No names to my knowledge have been released

This was the old Dixie Endeavor when I believe Superior had it

I dont think anyone predicted anything this serious. At least not that I heard. I thought it was going to be a normal spring time thunderstorm

There’s no way he would have left the pass at 1400 if he knew that he’d be capsized 1 hour and 40 minutes later.

This just doesn't sit right if what the previous poster said about the incident yesterday did happen.
About dropping life jackets and rolling out?
