JP hardly ever seeks the death penalty anymore because of the associated costs, even in the most outrageous circumstances.

Now you've got two cases in just a few days that warrant nothing less than a capital case. All eyes are on the DA's office. If either the JPSO killer or this thug are allowed to simply do time, it is a disservice to the victims.

Make your voices heard.

Unless or until a liberal SCOTUS is put into place, and rules that life in prison without parole is inhumane, and all of those sentences would be revoked and changed to whatever they decide is humane.

Or the La. Supreme Court does the same.

Remember when all those people were sentenced to death in California? The victims families thought the murderers would be put to death. Guess what? All sentences were commuted to life in prison. What everyone said couldn't happen, happened.

it is horrible to think about. We get up go to work, plan for savings for trips, retirement, boats, etc. Go to sports games and movies, enjoy ourselves. Worry about finances, or what's for dinner. Never do you think "today could be my last day". I imagine this girl to be working, maybe saving for school, 21 and a manger in one of the better fast food restaurants for advancement. Probably someone waiting for her to get off after an extremely late shift.

Then for maybe a few thousand dollars and the anger over losing a job he shouldn't have held in the first place, her life was taken. He stabbed her once before she opened the safe, though workers are told to comply and money will be replaced they have insurance for that. Even the threat alone and she would have probably given the thugs the money. No, these bloodthirsty fricks had to take her life, stab her multiple times, just to get the money.

I hope these assholes die never having another free day again. A lot of people's lives are going to be messed up for a very long time, and one person is gone forever behind a couple of bucks, that they stood no chance to get away with once they stabbed her.

It's just sad.

Love the people around you and don't hold grudges. Life can be short.

Did you see the recently posted video of the ISIS guys throwing the homosexuals off of a rooftop that was posted on here?

That might be the most brutal way to execute these thugs. Looked like it was only 4-5 stories, and hearing the thump was awful, but seemed to me in the pictures that some of them probably lived after impact, but in excruciating pain.

I knew that pic was taken in Laplace. I have been there, to that house next to the blue and white house before.

Welham loop at the bend.

Just they both have ties to Laplace and worked together, doesn't mean much.

Opposite sides of the city.

No description of perps, great article.

With modern media, this actually IS a description.

If I'm into paragraph 4 of an article about a crime where they have suspects.......and I haven't read a description, I know they aren't white and I can place solid money on them being black with almost zero worry.

I don't know why people keep bringing politics into this the move away from the death penalty makes more sense from a conservative standpoint due to our appeals process and a defendants right to reasonable defense.

It cost a lot more to try a death row case than it does to care for a prisoner for 40 years.
That just shouldn't be, but it is. Then even if you do go the death penalty route, even after convicted, they get multiple appeals with defense and prosecution both paid by the tax payer. Meanwhile they get housed and cared for this whole time.

People can say do away with the appeals, but look how many people have been vindicated from death row in recent years. If even one person is wrongly killed and convicted, it's too much.

We can all call for blood, but to just lock them up is the easiest way.

The pendulum needs to swing back. The Sister Prejean crowd, Southern Poverty Law Center, SJWs at the Universities, Innocent projects, Judges and DAs who line their pockets with rehabilitation service contracts, and local media outlets who run their boo hoo stories should be put on warning that their ilk bears responsibility for the disorder that is far too common.

In this day and age of video surveillance and cameras in every corner of places, trials and appeals should not last as long as they do. If there is clear cut video evidence, then justice should be swift.

I would say this is a new problem, but crime has been in the metro NOLA area since long before I was born.

If anything I think this has more to do with a changing demographic in Kenner, from middle to upper middle class white neighborhood (especially near lake ponchartrain) to more a mixed working class neighborhood.

You have to wonder if the checkerboard (in terms of both race and class) diverse neighborhood is everything it's made out to be.

These assholes came from LaPlace, this is a state problem, they all have cars or are willing to steal them. Yet look at where the state police spend their money, like 3 to 4 on traffic enforcement instead of crime. Unless you live in a gated community and stay there you are a potential victim.

I hear what you are saying, I really do. However, it seems to me the culture has now evolved to the point where going to jail is almost "cool". Like you aren't a true thug unless you have done time. So therefore, being thrown in jail just does not resonate with them any longer. It puts zero fear in people, knowing they are headed to three hot meals a day, a place to sleep, cable, etc.

Frick that. Want to talk about saving money? I will personally pay for the ropes, or the three bullets, to have these frickers put to sleep. The truth is, that is the only way to get the attention of the "culture" creating these type of environments/committing these types of crimes in our society.

I know I joked early in the thread...before the latest news...

It is very sad news that the clerk died. It is not fair that people can do this to you while you are trying to make a living for yourself.
