If your salary is 45K but you get 1 week spring break, 1 week fall break, 2 weeks for Christmas, every damn bank holiday and 2.5 weeks off in the summer...that's about 16 weeks of off time. That 45K job is now about a 60K job and if you throw in the health care that costs a teacher $20 a month you can add about another 4K in benefits us regular folk don't get. Soap Box over.

Well I can only speak because I know what my mother pays as perspective. I know each state and county/parish is different.

But your argument is strong regardless of the specific numbers. If teachers worked 12 months a year, they’d be paid more than a reasonable amount versus the median household income or average worker’s total compensation. Adding the unpaid 3 months of leisure time to subsidized health care and taxapayer-funded retirement, it’s easy to make the case teachers are overpaid relative to the average worker.

Well...more like 2.5. Teachers here get out in mid may and start back around the first of August. And most of them take classes or do something else school related at least part of the time.

Teachers aren't underpaid. They are paid market rate for their services and they can work somewhere else anytime they want. Someone else will do the job at current wages which makes your argument dumb and invalid.
