“Those who can, do; Those who can’t, teach.”

There’s a reason this idiom exists.

Correct.

It's not easy if you do a great job, but it's not a difficult job. In fact, there's no reason for elementary ed teachers to have a 4 year degree.

there's teaching AP US history at a girls private school, 8th grade math and a ghetto public school, kindergarten in the suburbs, and everything in between.

they're barely the same job at some point.

Before now I would have agreed with you completely, but with all the shite going on for back to school, frick no. Teachers and the whole school admin are going through some insane shite daily.

Equally or more unpopular.

Nobody else brags about their job or status more than these three attention whores.

1. Teachers
2. Health care professionals
3. US Marines.

"Ignore the parents"? You really are trolling or have no clue as to the realities of the public school system in this country. You watching any of these riot videos? That's what way too many parents are like, they come to the classroom & confront you with the same language & attitude we are seeing in these videos. Say you are a classroom teacher with lunch room duty: a special ed student looses it & either comes at you or drops screaming to the floor. Curious how yo realistically handle it. etc etc etc etc

and still get the best teachers

Just because a school is a private school doesn't mean it automatically provides a better education.

Sure, there are really good private schools, but lets be honest. In Louisiana, there are people who send their kids to private school simply because they don't want their kids to be in school with a bunch of black people.

Some of the smaller private schools, a lot of the teachers they get are teachers who retire as early as possible from the public school system and then go teach at a private school so they can get their retirement and still get a working pay check.

Elementary, middle school private schools and smaller HS private schools have two types of teachers. Retired teachers and teachers who can afford to not make as much because their husband has a good job.

At the school I went to? Probably not. In the poor area public schools? It’s probably extremely difficult.

You obviously aren't familiar with how tenure works. It ain't like the old days anymore where they are handing it out to everyone. You have to be rated proficient for 5 of 6 consecutive years and if you lose that rating, you lose tenure. Your rating is based on administrator observations and student's scores. With your lesson plans and mindset, you'd be fired within a few years. Sure, you would probably be able to bounce around between shitty schools because someone would always be desperate enough to hire teachers since there's such a shortage, but you would never sniff tenure or any type of bonuses.

We got a code 5 freak out. Evidence needed for the above please. Real evidence cite.

Teaching Not difficult? Go substitute at a local public school and see how it goes. I bet you leave by noon.

You cannot fail a student, barely punish a student even if they curse you like a dog, parents non existent if you need them or they are ultimate enablers for their child, and you have all the state mandates and testing that make it where there’s more paperwork and data being recorded then time allows, on top of you have to be the mother, father, counselor, disciplinarian etc because they get none of it at home.

I’m not trying to white knight for teachers here, but this statement is basically accurate for 90% of the white collar jobs in this country.

3 months vacation along with eventual tenure.

No such thing. School is only out a little less than 2.5 months. You have to go to in services, conferences, continuing education classes, and workshops.
No such thing as tenure. Contracts only 1 school year at a time, and you’re strictly evaluated several times a school year.

No, you can’t. There aren’t computers for every student. A lot of schools have less than 4 classroom computers, no textbooks or workbooks. You have to print worksheets for students to do at home bc some don’t have home computers.
quote:

kids don’t step up, fail them
Can’t. A lot have IEPs or 504 plans and are required to have extra time/help.
