Too many times I've come to a stop sign on a divided street, looked to my left to see if any traffic is oncoming first, then proceed to make the right hand turn only to catch sight of some idiot hauling arse from the right, riding against traffic. If I don't brake, they slam into my passenger front fender.
This happens a lot. I almost hit 3 of them over the years.

There are some who think their right to ride on the road supersedes the laws of physics. I rode a bike a lot during college, and tried to avoid cars as much as possible.

I don't want to deviate from the OP's discussion, but I think there is a difference between a "cyclist" and a person riding their bicycle.
But, on cyclists, let me add a point that has not been listed. The cyclists here in Mobile group up early, so if you are on the roads between 5:00 - 5:30 AM you will encounter them in packs of 20 or 30. I appreciate their efforts to not constrict traffic flow due to their slower speeds. My issue is where they group up.
Being a teacher, I have gone to school early mornings and have seen them parked in our bus lanes/bus drop-off points. When they were chastised for that, they moved to the teacher's parking lot and began to take up their slots. Our school was built to handle about 1,000 students ... our enrollment is up to 1,600 now, which means more staff and limited parking. Cyclists need to think about these things before they decide on their departure points.
If you are going to group up, group up at the back of a grocery store parking lot or something where nobody parks.
As to cyclists in general, I think the number of professional grade equipment/clothes/stickers is directly proportional to the level of douchebaggery.

Nothing wrong with riding bikes. In my opinion they don’t belong on a road with cars. It’s dangerous and they impede traffic. Don’t care what the law says.

I got flipped off by a cyclist because I had the audacity to pass him on a four lane, divided street with a bike lane. I have no idea why that triggered him.. Maybe his tights were squeezing his nutsack too much and he was in a pissed off mood.

Yeah the problem is the law allows cyclists (or even mandates?) to ride on roads occupied by and designed for big and fast machines.

They can truly impede the flow of traffic when they leave the cities to ride in my rural area. Most of them stay on the very edge of the road. Our roads are curvy, hilly, and narrow which can create unsafe passing zones. It’s really a problem when there’s a long string of riders no matter how hard they try to ride the edges.
It takes patience to drive when they are out. I always give a friendly wave when I pass although I wish they would find another spot in the country to exercise their ‘I can go anywhere a car can go’ rights.

That opinion is not Unpopular.

For some reason these cyclists think they can break the laws but wants to be treated as everyone else on the road.
Don't worry about it. Darwinism will catch up to them eventually.

Recreational cyclists fully abuse the rule allowing cyclists to use the roads. It is intended to allow people who commute on a bike to use the commuter roads. Not so you can disrupt traffic to simply exercise.

The same Tour de France LARPers get triggered by folks who ride electronic bikes (ebikes). Same with off road cyclists. They complain that a motor that assists with pedaling destroys the purity of the hobby and ebike riders cannot share the bike lanes or trails or consider themselves “cyclists.” For the record, I do not own an ebike.
Road cycling seems to attract Karens who think it’s a good idea to do something if it’s legal regardless of how many people are negatively impacted. They ride with a chip on their shoulders, ready to meltdown at any perceived incident.

I'd say your opinion is extremely popular.

Do you ever exceed the speed limit?
I bet they don't.
Posted on 1/1/22 at 11:55 am to PeteRose
That not an unpopular opinion. Cyclist are just cultfitters that get power out of being able to slow down traffic and everyone gets to see them.

People build bike lanes on a busy highway with drivers going 60 MPH and texting.
Then people more stupid use the lanes

They are, as a GENERAL rule, masters of getting in the damn way! When one of them gets run over, I secretly think “not surprised”.

Holy generalization batman.
Stay fat and sorry you got jody'd by a Chad cyclist.

Without a doubt, I hate them
