i'll also say that when i first called about it, monday afternoon, they told me it was a fuel issue occurring when the vehicle is turned on from a cold start. once it warmed up, it should subside, which for the most part it did. my warning lights never went off though. told me to burn off all the gas in my tank, refill, and the issue should be gone.

called back the next morning because that hadn't seemed to help and they told me they had received some new information and to not drive any further and bring it in immediately.

so just be careful in thinking that the problem is gone just from getting new gas

aka, looks like the distributor is going to cover mechanics costs for any repairs needed.

Just dropped mine off this morning, engine light came on. They called me, have to take off fuel tank and clean out system, first thing he asked me was if I had gotten fuel there.

Being reported that customers who have purchased gas from Race Trac and Murphys have experienced check engine light issues and true engine problems.

I filled up at a station in Oklahoma around 12 years ago and the tanker truck dropped diesel in the 1/2 full 87 octane underground tank. So, I got a mix of 1/2 and 1/2 diesel and 87 octane in a 98 Dodge gasser. My engine sounded like marbles were rolling around in it when I punched the gas pedal. Luckily, the oil company that mis-filled the underground tank paid for my engine repairs.

So, in summary, shite happens. Humans make errors.

i had a similar issue last week but no CEL and it seemed to correct itslef. Went to start truck before work and sfter cranking the engine idled very rough. I turned it off and started it again and it slowly "evened" out. Low fuel light was on so I filled up right after. Hasnt done it since.

We have had 40 different cars with the issue in the last two weeks. The Attorney General has been contacted.

Wow, that seems like more than a one truck problem for sure. Guessing most filled up at different locations.

happened to me coming back from north carolina on vacation a couple years ago.

4runner has always run like a top. i got gas halfway home at some station in eastern TN and not 2 miles down the road the check engine light comes on and i had another 2 hours to drive.

by the time i got back home, it was coughing/sputtering so bad i could barely get it up to 55mph on the interstate (this was late on a sunday night) and took it to the dealer first thing monday morning who had to replace a fuel injector to fix it.

i was pretty pissed but i'm guessing just about impossible to prove liability at that point.

If I were having trouble I would be on the phone with someone and not sitting back twiddling my thumbs.

Most oil companies are huge with QC and do what it takes to keep their shite right. I would imagine samples are being taken at stations if they have been alerted.

Was just told this from All-Star. They confirmed the local issue with gas, saying it was only affecting Toyotas. Their suggestion was an octane booster like seafoam. I told him your report with the follow-up phone call and the service rep shrugged it off.
