Shreveport to become Universal income test? Anyone heard about this? Or know anything about this? Sounds a bit socialist.

It's Georgist/Distributist in origin. Ain't nobody taking over the means of production. It's still gonna result exactly how you'd think, though, without attendant reforms to other forms of redistribution. Just hope your local tax dollars aren't being used since they don't have a printing press for themselves.

Honestly if you just dismantle the current welfare system and just give people straight cash, I’d be interested to see the results.

It's the most logical way to handle transfer payments...unless you want to argue that some people are too stupid to take care of themselves.

If you add everything possible up it comes to about 1 trillion a year. If that amount goes to a UBI program, it's 3 dollars a person per year.
edit: I effed the numerator on a trillion. It's a lot of zeros. That calc yields 3000. But, it's a little more when you take out 0-18 and 65+ yo

We spend more per capita on healthcare, education, and general social nets than any other place in the world - yet we get substandard results. This means we either have mass inefficiency from parasitic bureaucratic entrenchment and overregulation, or we live in a nation of retards.

That's accounting for pure numbers and not taxpayers. In reality, it is probably somewhere in the realm of 6500 dollars a person.

Got sources for that? Not even being a dick, I'm just dumbfounded that we can spend that much on these things and still not be up to par and want to see it for myself
