This is looking like sloppy management of maintenance maybe combined with a blind DEI eye for incompetence.

Last week, a Boeing 777 was forced to turn around midflight after leaving Sydney due to a hydraulic leak.
A few days earlier, an Airbus A320, en route to Mexico City, was forced to make an emergency landing at Los Angeles International Airport after a reported hydraulics issue.
MEXICO-BOUND UNITED AIRLINES PLANE MAKES EMERGENCY LANDING AT LOS ANGELES AIRPORT
Shortly before that, a Boeing 737 "rolled onto the grass" at George Bush Intercontinental Airport in Houston after landing, and a Boeing 777-200 aircraft bound for Japan lost a tire shortly after taking off in San Fransisco.
Earlier this month, a flight from Houston to Fort Myers, Florida, made an emergency landing after experiencing an engine issue. A video showed flames spewing out of one of the plane's engines as a crew member acknowledged the situation.

He can’t say it because it will get railroaded, but it’s just selective targeting of social media information to uneducated masses
They aren’t really an outlier

I’m sure United Airlines is no different, but you got the wrong airline bud

While I may not totally disagree, this dude travels almost exclusively on corporate jets haha

I’m saying OP is partially blaming diversity for United Airlines mechanical issues & linked American Airlines views on DEI
ETA: this is probably what OP was going for
United Airlines CEO Scott Kirby went viral this week after remarks he made in 2021 about the company’s diversity initiatives were resurfaced.

Just remember when your plane is plunging into a mountain face: you are a very small sample size and overall the carrier is safe.

Hey, how was that Magical Negroes movie? Was it as funny as you anticipated, or did the jokes fall flat?

I had to look up what this even was. Never heard of it. Why are you so aware of it?

Whether these issues are legitimate or just a product of mass information, airlines have 0 incentive to improve. They each have their own regional monopolies where they each take their slice of the pie and go on their way.

I cannot recall the last person I know that died on a commercial flight. Because it’s ZERO
Such overblown nonsense.
Now car wrecks —- we all have at least 5 or more people in our lives that were seriously injured or killed in a car wreck.

When self driving cars are the norm the amount of wrecks and fatalities will drop drastically.

This mass hysteria surrounding planes having to make emergency landings is absurd. There hasn’t been a single major US airline crash in almost 20 years. Your chances of getting into a plane crash are 1 in 7,000,000. Commercial aviation in the US is the safest it’s ever been.
To put it in perspective, back in the 70s and 80s they would have life insurance booths at airports where your family could sign up to receive payouts in case a family member died in a flight crash. Now life insurance booths are non-existent in airports because the risk of crashing is so extremely low.

Worrying about stupid shite like this is no different from worrying about mass shooters. You’re only worrying about it because the media is making a mass hysteria panic out of a couple of isolated incidents.
I think there is a fair middle ground between accepting this and also hoping for more from the airlines. Flying is a miserable experience that gives the average person a sense that, even if an airline tragedy occurred, the bean counters wouldn't care or change all that much. But it really goes back to the force of incentives, which we are all susceptible to - they have 0 incentive to improve.
