Lately, if I sit too long with my knee bent in a certain way, I get pain.
Lately, even lying down, I cannot find a good position to make the pain subside.
The pain goes away after walking or moving it around.
You are starting to get arthritis most likely.

You need to stretch your hamstrings. if its on the top of the knee its the patella that is aggravated.

Stretch your hamstrings everyday. I had the same thing and once I started stretching quads and hammys, the pain went away

It sounds like classic early osteoarthritis. Stiff and painful after not moving, gets better as you do shite.
You should go to a doctor and they'll do a physical and get xrays (which will likely show signs of early OA). Then you'll need to work on losing weight and doing ow impact cardio.
You'll need to strengthen the muscles around the knee to help with support.
In the meantime, use ice and heat, bengay, and tylenol/advil as needed for pain.

It's lateral retinaculum release, not LCL release.
That basically means that your lateral retinaculum (lateral patellofemoral ligament) was too tight and not allowing your patella to track within the femoral groove.
Check out this image. The patella is supposed to sit in the trochlear groove and track inside that thing. When the lateral retinaculum is too tight, it pull the patella out wide and makes it rub against the part of the femur without good cartilage.

Here you can see a patella that has moved out laterally and is rubbing on the wrong part of the femur. This is probably a lot like what yours used to look like.

Try CBD and if that doesn’t work then try heroin it’ll take the edge off

I have the exact same symptoms. Like the other poster said, torn meniscus (thanks Army). Mine's not bad enough for surgery though, so just have to suck it up.

sounds like you have hip issues. Tell your boyfriend to stop torquing your hips when he is probing your Hershey love tunnel.

I suffered for years, YEARS with this. Like I'd want to rip my leg off at night it hurt so bad. I'm in good health/shape/good weight and no doc took me seriously -- it was patella femoral symdrome but nothing made it better and it came and went without any warning. This was all before I started running. After one run, my knee was so swollen I almost couldn't walk. They did an MRI at that point and it was indeed a torn meniscus .. diagnosed like almost 20 years after the pain started.
Had it scoped and cleaned out by Adam Kennedy at LOS in Lafayette (loved him; former LSU O-lineman) and haven't had an issue since. That was in 2014.
Check it out and good luck.
