Realistically, how are you applying with any skill at over 88 companies a day? 10 a day is hard if you're tailoring your resume and such.

Be open to relocating if you have to.

Ask me how I know. 3200~ applications in a year, looking in multiple states, multiple interviews, no job.
White guys looking for management roles right now better know someone or it’s a tough path for sure.

Take a long weekend but get back at it after that. Finding a job is a full time job now in this economy. Invest in a good resume.

This is unfortunately an attitude that is pervasive in this region and it's completely untrue if you have a family who loves you. I feel bad for this person

What a fig. You should not be handing out advice.

USPS has been hiring daily since the Covid days, not just seasonal.

So you have no idea how different it is from 2009 to now.

It's about 10 jobs a day. Since I'm looking in multiple states, it's not hard to find 10 jobs a day to apply too.
As for tailoring my resume, it is tailored. It doesn't take long to modify and since I've done it so many times, there is not really anything that I can add without lying in it. HR uses ai as well to write job descriptions, so it's easy to see what they put and it doesn't deviate from the 9 other jobs that I've applied too this day.

I am fortunate and have never been laid off but had plenty of friends lose their jobs. I have been told that not knowing when your next job will start is the worst part. One friend was out of work for a year. He said if he had known how long he would have enjoyed time off a lot more. Point is the next job is on the way so enjoy unemployment while you can.

I went to college, to get out of construction

What's the OT's advice on how to make the most of the time and not waste it?
Make a list of things you have to do.
Knock those out the best you can upon awakening, then enjoy the rest of each day.

Read, and workout. Will help with the anxiety. Know it’s going to take time and try to enjoy the holidays because it will likely be Jan before hiring picks up.
I think you nailed two of the things on my list. I have ample to read between books and magazine that I've stacked up over recent months (years in some cases). I definitely can afford to lose 10 - 15 lbs. I do plan to walk and run a bit more while I can. Between time change, cold weather and holidays, exercise usually finds a backseat about this time of year for me. Something I can prioritize better in the short-term with the spare time.
Feedback from the few recruiters I've spoken with so far all tend to agree with you. Either hiring plans are delayed to the new year or some indecision is in place with the election upcoming.

Come up with a plan for what your goals are. Knock at least 1 thing off your list every day so you can say you've accomplished something whether that's one of your at home projects, related to finding a new job, or for your family. Stick to your plan/goals and realize everything happens for a reason. You'll be better off in the future than you were at a company willing to let you go at a moments notice
This is what I hope to do. This first week will be pretty productive, but it'll get interesting past that. My wife is already queuing up several honey-dos for me with all my new 'free' time. I need to get busy on getting my list of things to do in order or I'll be tied up doing things for everyone else before I know it.
