Afraid? I think you mistake fear for awareness. The statistics give people good reason to profile. Because some nerdy Asian kid with a calculator and an Oxford is probably much less likely to cause trouble than some young pants-saggin' thug with a scowl and a hoodie.

That's a simple numbers game. Not "fear".

Sad and completely wrong for it to happen that way, but it is true..

I've thought about it and you are right. From now on all my posts will be with the intent of impressing 18 yo black kids. I'm surprised this isn't a rule yet.

Sounds like the burglar was an idiot. And most likely he had someone else with him that was going to drive the other car away who bailed.

The rookie cop probably got a little trigger happy. A cop fearing for his life and scared out of his mind might be a bad cop, but it does not make it 1st degree premeditated murder like the protesters always assume.

There is absolutely no logic in this statement.

No one calls 911 and says "send a cop over for a Thank You party".

Police are called to handle the most dangerous and gruesome events.

Their main job is to stay alive! They have to neutralize any threats to themselves before investigating. Someone driving a car thru a showroom window is a potential threat, especially when the security company calls the police. 15 minutes sitting in the back of a police cruiser would have kept everyone safe and alive.

In my almost 70 years of living, I have never confronted a police officer. I know they have a gun and are trained to use it. What is so difficult about this to understand?

"“He was a good kid. I don’t see him stealing no car or nothing like that,” Fuller said.
“I think something is going on that somebody is lying about,” Fuller said. “…They say he’s burglarizing the place by running up in there? Nuh-uh. Something doesn’t sound right.”

The article says that there was a fight prior to shots being fired. It then seems to harp on the point that because the guy was unarmed that a gun should not have been drawn.

Since when are cops supposed to put down their weapons and duke it out in a fair fight?

Exactly. This was a college football player. Cops are not going to give this guy a chance at a fistfight. What people don't get is that cops are trained to shoot you long before any scuffle ensues that could put the cops weapon in danger of being taken by the criminal. That's common sense. Cops can't be wrestling on the ground with a gun on their hip. If someone attacks a cop, gun or not, black or not, he can expect to be shot.

Shut the frick up. He was trying to steal a car ( or committing burglary, or crashed into a showroom shitfaced) and got shot. He brought it on himself. I have no sympathy for him or his family. If the facts emerge and indicate this was some medical emergency, I'll sing a different tune but from everything we know, he shouldn't have been there.

What's your excuse for the epidemic of black on black crime tearing apart the streets? Are blacks afraid of other blacks ? OR do you just not care about those cases?

Hey I have an idea, let's wait and see what happen before convicting or exonerating . Both sides are just as bad at speaking without a fricking clue as to what happen. The definition of Ignorance is " Contempt prior to investigation" so all of you who want to show your ignorance? Go right ahead, the floor is yours. Oh and good morning

Just accurate and not PC, so you don't like it.

No. It's just a dumb sounding, wore out phrase that gets posted in every single thread like this. We get it. Do something illegal and pay the price. The phrase is still lame.

You are right. I am sure he was a good boy and he had a seizure that made him drive into a car dealership. And while he was siezing he fought with a cop and the cop was completely wrong by shooting this poor african american.

Amazing how many times blacks are the victims of cops. Truly amazing.

This.

The claim is always that it's somebody else's fault, when in the vast bulk of these cases...it really isn't.

Why would he crash his own vehicle into a dealership showroom to steal a car? That makes zero sense.

The article doesn't say it was his car, it says

quote:

police arrived to find that the suspect had used a vehicle to crash into the showroom through the dealership’s front glass.

Either the car he used was stolen or he is the world's biggest idiot if he was going to leave his own personal vehicle behind at the crime scene.

I'll never understand why people bring these things to the OT. The majority of the people here don't care and it's just gonna become a race thread in 2-3 pages with some black lives matter jokes thrown in.

I think it goes further than not caring. There's a sick sense of pleasure some people get when they see these threads. I think they enjoy seeing the police gun down unarmed people, whether they committed a crime or not. If I don't care about a thread, I just scroll right past it. Whoever claims not to care, but decides to open the thread and post about how much they don't care, is lying to themselves.

It's also always the cop who lives to tell his side of the story, but never the unarmed person. These stories are always one-sided, unless there are cameras around.

The unarmed person here would have been around to tell their story had he not vandalized and then burglarized a car dealership. Had an employee shot the guy we wouldn't even be having this conversation because the justification would be obvious
