I bought my townhouse in Goodwood (Florida Blvd. was the street behind me) in 2006, for $85k. After I moved to FL in 2014, my roommate stayed and rented it from me. After a shady man was seen on the property, my rm's sister who had moved in, got scared and they bailed. I wasn't going to be a landlord for people I didn't know and that close to NBR, so I sold and made $30k in profit on an $85k townhouse. Baton Rouge served its purpose for my real estate needs.
Just went back for a funeral, and after 3 years in Naples, FL, going "home" was culture shock. BR is declining and traffic is awful. And I left 70805 in 1997, so I lived in NBR and experienced the ghetto.

that area behind walmart isn't valley park. an interstate and a big drainage ditch separates it from the real culcha
I'm not so sure some of those houses are even lived in. It's entirely possible that walmart bought some of them

Well, 70805 is the worst zip code in the city, possibly the worst in the entire state.
If you really think Baton Rouge is in decline relative to when you left, you should have gone downtown or to the Perkins Road Overpass Area. Maybe taken a drive down Government Street.

I've got nothing against black people but it can't be ignored that the black criminal element is far more violent and murder prone than white trash for whatever reason.

I think a big factor in that is population density. White trash tend to live in less dense neighborhoods. When their meth labs explode, or someone puts out a hit on someone else, the chances for collateral damage are greatly reduced.
When some hoodrat tries to kill someone in a drive-by, they always also hit a bunch of random pedestrians that were just in the wrong place at the wrong time.

I’ve heard this theory before, but I don’t buy it. There are plenty of crime ridden violent black neighborhoods that aren’t high density apartments. Many awful black neighborhoods were once clean and decent before white flight.
White trash likes drugs and will do a lot of stealing and whatnot, but you just don’t get the gun crime, the carjackings, the armed robberies. There usually won’t be brawls at Chuck E Cheese and not every handicapped spot will be taken.

I agree. It's due to the large percentage of fatherless homes and the glorification of that lifestyle in music, movies and pop culture.

I think it's that they use lead paint chips on ghetto houses and use formaldehyde in trailers. Formaldehyde makes you more peaceful
