You have no idea. Try getting a decent one bedroom apartment. The prices aren't that much less than a similar place in California ON THE BEACH!!!
My in-laws bought a 2 BR house about 3 years ago for $160k a stone's throw from Florida Blvd. There have been probably 4 murders within a half mile in the past year. It's now worth well over $200k. My mom bought a crappy 3br rent house in Tara and is getting $1800/month in rent from it. Insanity.

Where have you been? Urban in-fill has been all the rage in BR over the past 10 years. There are a ton more people living downtown than any time in the last 40 years. There are tons of new subdivisions, mixed-use developments, and townhomes being built all over Mid City. Entire neighborhoods have been gentrified. White folks are moving into Old South Baton Rouge IN DROVES! White people hadn't been spotted in the bottom since the early 1970's!

I have friends from out of town wondering how the local economy produces homes off Perkins (settlement at willow grove) that are going for north of one million dollars.

I know a guy that lives in a +1 million house in Willow Grove. You'd be surprised how much some people make in small and medium sized businesses.

I'm not sure if you are trolling here but Bocage is one of the most expensive neighborhoods in BR.

We have a fairly decent local tech industry, healthcare, industrial construction (Turner, Jacobs, Shaw Spinoff, Brown and Root etc), healthcare, companies to do work for LSU and the state government. We don't have a lot of large national companies headquartered here but some people are making money

That’s crazy prices. Is it Bc so much Prime Land is occupied by trash that it funnels all the upper middle class into just a few areas which drives up prices, and much of the middle class moved out to ascension and Livingston?

Garden District is such a terrible neighborhood
Old Goodwood's really atrocious too
Don't forget Capital Heights with all its filthy poverty
Bocage is really struggling
