It was laughably idiotic. Its hard to establish trust when you pull out this comic book fantasy to impress the masses

Theyve been using tu95s to laucnh cruise missiles into ukraine the whole war, not to mention they are an arm of their nuclear triad, of which is critical to nuclear deterrence for all countries what are you blabbering about?

You think if someone was suicide droning our b52s we'd just dismiss it?

Amd I wasn't saying you did or didn't. Was merely adding that Russian law literally doesn't mean shite and even if their law says they have to react, that doesn't hold any weight over anyone else and if they were so unimaginably stupid to do something like, using even a battlefield nuke in Ukraine, they would be reasonably opening themselves up to whatever hellstorm that would rightfully come their way

And that will continue. Damaging 4 bombers out of 100 doesn't stop the attacks. The nuclear deterrent thing must be some type of joke. Russia is not relying on old bombers in case a Nuclear War breaks out. The World would be destroyed before they would even get into the air.

You are also forgetting they serve as a critical non nuclear strategic element in any hope of closing the Atlantic in a potential war with NATO, playing spotting dog for their Backfires.

The double props disparaged earlier in the thread give them jet like performance at far higher fuel efficiency.

Beautiful aircraft in the air. I saw two land at Barksdale in the early 90s, I was standing in a baseball field under the flightline.

They look and sound menacing.

You’ve locked onto this 4 number. Where are you getting your information that says only 4 bombers were damaged.

Also, Russia doesn’t have 100 TU-95s. So I’m not sure where you’re getting that number either unless you’re pulling it straight out of your arse.

And it doesn't even have the impact he think it does. If one B-52 had a single scratch put on it by some foreign adversary, all hell would break loose here

Ukrainians love cope.

This was more of a PR operation for morale than an actual "strategic effect". They knew they couldn't even get a 1/3 of the planes. Ended up with 4 propeller bombers.

Sure it was. So was Jessica Lynch smoking Iraqi's until she was out of ammo.

My point was, acting like Ghost of Kiev is in the same stratosphere as the lies Putin and his [totally not] supporters back here told, and are still telling in this very thread, is like acting like the lies told about Jessica Lynch eclipse the 'weapons of mass destruction' lies the Bush admin told to get us over there in the first place.

You're a smart guy, Roger, but that's a stupid take.

No shite.

Best case scenario, it’s 10% of their entire force (which can’t be replaced btw), and he’s just like “meh”

If the Guardian is to be believed, it’s almost their entire inventory. Sure he’ll still come back to claim that it really doesn’t mean anything.

Ignoring the fact that it’s not just what’s targeted, it’s the fact that Russia cannot protect themselves from this kind of attack at all that is the real eye opener. They have been having drone attacks as a threat for over a year and still doesn’t have an answer to them for their vulnerable fixed location bases.

Incorrect. They have 55 in service. With 17 that can be put back in service if needed

Sure it was. Trump has finally woken up that Putin is playing him, nice little message here.

It did happen soon after he went on a rant about Putin when he was trying to stop the war.

I give him credit for trying to end their war, but he puts too much stock into what these leaders tell him. Did the same thing with Ping in the early days of Covid.
