Doesn’t matter how many China had, the UK is responsible for not quarantining at the borders and testing everyone who came from there. And so are we.
This was entirely preventable. Greed really is a deadly sin.
China knew they were fricked. But they decided to make sure everyone else was fricked too. And we let them. That’s on us.

They waited about 6 weeks before admitting that human-human transmission was possible, let alone occurring in Wuhan complete unchecked.

I've seen from a few reporters in China that are estimating 40k+ dead in Wuhan alone.. China says 2800 deaths or something ridiculous for the whole country.

It was reported that over 21 million cell phones in China were cancelled. From what I understand, everyone in China must have a cell phone to get their health codes from the government. 21 million cancellations = 21 million deaths?

It matters because the rest of the world wasn’t prepared like we could have been had China not lied and covered up the severity of this.
And covered up when it started.
It wouldn't surprise me if some of their "private" holding companies have profited off US and EU markets reactions with early info China held back from the world.
Not only did they start to blame the US for spreading this in China I doubt with the economic hit they were taking at the time they would choose option 1 between - 1 deciding to inform the world and share into completely and trust world to help China altruistically or 2 decide to withhold & cover up and use delay & withheld info to make competition more even by going through a hard time with late info, aid China's recovery with some insider knowledge on true nature of virus in China, and even possibly use it increase their economic power with some countries while negotiating with China for help.
I don't think WHO was allowed to come in until February.
Didn't they get Italy to sign some agreement that was tied to their help?

21M seems very extreme, but consider:
-their population is heavy into smoking
-air pollution is awful
-the spread was allowed unchecked for a month or months
-treatment limited/no ventilators
-drugs limited/non existent
The result of all of that will be a true mortality rate shockingly higher than western nations with a much higher population. Ultimately we will never know most likely.

Just take a look at some of the publicized “donations” of test kits and medical supplies Chinese billionaire Jack Ma (Alibaba CEO) has made over the past few weeks. In particular look at those to African nations. Anyone who doesn’t think there’s some kind of quid pro quo going on with natural resource rich nations being conveniently selected as the recipients of the “donations” is pretty naive.
