Nurses have created this kind of social media cult to convince each other that they're all great martyrs and savants holding public healthcare together with a shoestring.
Same with teachers. What do they have in common?

Oh, and the entire travel nurse thing. Local hospital pays $23/hr for its full time nurses starting, travel nurses with 1 year experience are getting $60/hr. If nurses knew how to negotiate and were willing to move for better pay hospitals would pay a whole lot more than $23/hr for a nurse. I saw a posting for $90/hr in NOLA, but that is probably Ida related. I do see nurses offered in the ballpark of $90/hr to travel though.
Why would a hospital do that? HUGE NURSING SHORTAGE!

I agree with them, now what tools do they have in their arsenal to change anything? Uh, nothing. Nobody cares, get back to work.

Unfortunately, due to the extreme nursing shortage, they will likely get what they want. If a single death is even remotely tied to their actions, they should all face charges.

Today, UAB has over 3,500 nurses. Tomorrow they will have over 3,476.

Someone should tell them the majority of us “essential” workers still showed up to work for the same pay as before covid. No work from home, no bonus, just showed up because it was needed.
You showed up because it benefited you financially. Don’t get it twisted lmao

They're upset that the travel nurses are having the checkbooks thrown at them for the same shifts they're working. I don't know how that gets fixed, but paying someone 4x what you're getting for the same work all while being "loyal" to the company would ruffle some feathers. These people however aren't being loyal tho, they're screwing the previous shift and on call employees...

Good for them. Supply and demand right? If these hospitals need nurses then they should be willing to pay them more.
Im sure some of you think they are over exaggerating, etc.. But they are dealing with people who has a virus that has different impacts on different people. They are putting themselves at risk when the hospital is filled with people who have this virus.
Why would anyone be against them protesting for higher pay?

Who would’ve thought that when someone went to school to become a nurse, they’d have to deal with sick people?

Can’t tell for sure, but I’m going to go ahead and say they are GUILTY.

frick em. UAB has been a source of nonstop propaganda on COVID since this shite started. I don’t believe anything they say anymore and have zero sympathy for them.

Are they in high demand right now? That puts the power in their hand.
It happens in professional sports all the time. Players who have contracts, who end up becoming more valuable to the team than they are being paid gets a new contract (which their agent works to get for them).
When there is a higher demand for people in a certain profession, there will be other companies willing to pay them more to go work for them. Their company can either pay them more or let them go and then they will end up having to replace that person by paying the new person a higher rate.

Bro……. Too many to link. You really ought to watch the local Bham news to get the full effect. There’s a UAB doc crying about COVID on every broadcast. It’s been incessant.
