Louisville says that "UL" is open to be claimed by whoever wants it because Louisville claims "U of L" instead.

This should be FUN to watch.
Yeah I'm torn between wanting shock and awe (Naming the stadium after Thomas Jefferson or some Confederate General) and just completely humiliating Louisville.
Maybe both? Soooo many options.

Okay, let's piss off a huge corporate sponsor.

It is being renamed Cardinal Stadium.
quote:
U of L President Neeli Bendapudi said the university would be called Cardinal Stadium, effective immediately. It was a unilateral decision made by Bendapudi, who said she informed Papa John's International and Schnatter.
Bendapudi said the university is familiar with the contract and understands what potential consequences there might be.

What a stupid, stupid decision.

They seem to be humiliating themselves just fine. The ACC is probably looking for ways to jettison the Cards.

Tulane is the original UL, going back to late 1800's. That's how USL got defeated the first time they tried to go to UL in the early 90's.

if I'm on their Board of Supervisors or Board of Regents... I'm taking that quote right there and making a motion to remove her
she's basically saying IDGAF about your contracts and what breaching the contracts might end up costing the university without at least trying to work something out first

whats the problem with what he said?

Ramsey was paid $12.4 million by the university and foundation from 2010 through 2016, including $7.2 million in deferred compensation, according to the June 8 audit. The report shows Ramsey and eight other employees collected $21.8 million in deferred compensation, apparently without foundation board approval
Florida land records show that two days after his forced resignation last July he and his wife paid $800,000 in cash for a 4,200-square-foot home in Miramar Beach, Florida. They also own two other Florida properties purchased for a combined $1.08 million, as well as a $470,000 home in Oldham County.
Mismanagement and excessive spending may have cost the University of Louisville Foundation as much as $100 million — dwarfing the $20 million limit in insurance coverage on its officers and directors. The size of the loss may prompt the university to go after the personal assets of former President James Ramsey and others, according to legal and insurance experts.
Jesus H Christ. U of Louisville is to fraud what Penn State is to pedo.
