I didn't directly mention the church shooting at all.

pete, I was busting your balls because your post is how 100% of us should think 100% of the time. My initial question was, have you posted something like that when the race roles were reversed. Realized that I actually didn't want to be "that guy".

I honestly don't know if I even commented on it. It was horrible, but Dylan Roof is a single individual who committed a horrible crime. I hope he is persecuted as severely as he can be. Dylan does not represent white people to me.

Who doesn't represent the coaches I work with, the parents I talk to, the kids I coach, or the people I call friends.

However my stance on these issues is very well established on this site.

I do not care about race, I care about justice and people.

I have always condemned and criticized Al and Jessie and any bad behavior committed by blacks.

Saw this. His press secretary immediately pushed gun control as a way this could have been prevented.

This is awful, and it's an act of racism.

However, I'll say the same thing I said about the Roof issue. As a society, we need to LET RACISM DIE. Continuing to ostracize it will only continue to cause unrest. This goes for whites, blacks, and little green aliens for all I care. The best thing you can EVER do for racism is, the next time you think about it, don't say a word. We need to be more concerned with people killing people, not whites killing blacks or blacks killing whites. Until we get to that point, racism will not go away.

Yes, and it has even turned into them saying that a race war is not only coming, but that it's already here.

Black guy on CNN put that to bed quickly saying this guy was fired two years ago and never displayed any signs of mental issues to people he killed. No threats or anything.

How are we supposed to prevent this when there are no signs pointing to this?

That doesn't matter when she's not looking directly in that direction. You're not going to get it, so this will be the end of this tangent

That guy is so ignorant about the process...

When you're interviewing someone and speaking on mic, you tune everything else out. You are focused on making the interviewee comfortable so you focus only on them. You tune out the crew, the camera, everything.
It would be very easy for someone to approach you and shoot you before you know it.

Wasn't he fired from one station for threatening employees. And wasn't he removed from this station by the police? And didn't the camera guy complain to HR after working with him only once?

I understand that it may not be easy to prevent. But he definitely displayed signs of being crazy.

It was early. There were very bright lights set up and you simply don't see past them once they are on. The individual was behind the light, thusly no visualization by reporter or the other.

Thank you for an intelligent response. The lights are something I didn't think about.

I just don't get why victims can't operate under hindsight more often.

9/11 for example, I would have been like "bros they're just using box cutters and I'm thinking they have intentions to crash this plane into the WTC. Let's stop this right now." Then I'd probably use that same ninja kick I mentioned earlier and take them out.

there is a lot of psychological research about these scenarios. we don't wire our brains to handle crises well.

we evolved with an avoidance mechanism hard-wired into our heads (we are much more flight than fight in nature) and when you combine societal impacts on how we react to our instincts and removing the ability to flee, we just crumple into big pussies

It does. It's such a minority that still harbors racism, all the attention to it does is feed it. Black and white people will never be equal until we view them as such. The very concept of racism fuels itself, because if you are addressing it, even acknowledging it, you are viewing the races at hand differently. The only way to ever really get past it is to accept that black people will kill white people, black people will kill black people, whites will kill blacks, etc... But understand that it isn't an issue of which race killed which, it's an issue that a person killed another person.
