I’d guess identifying them means looking at recent evictions

Darwinism. Pouring gas all around the area and choosing to ignite it right in the middle.

And also not having an exit plan. They are setting a freaking fire and then have to struggle to escape out of a closed door

These guys were doped out

The apartment folks were obviously in the wrong.

The expected though fine gentlemen to pay rent monthly and not evict them

Must have watched the Irish mob movie "State Of Grace" and thought that is how gasoline works in real life.

Didn't compensate for the fumes that will ignite immediately when a source of ignition is introduced.

I met an Indian - Canadian ( immigrant) women back around 2004 who owned some quick service restaurants. One of them was a chain that was going under and she had poured half a million loonies into it . Anyhow, she decided to take matters into her own hands and she hired a guy to burn it down so she could collect the insurance money. Of course this guy lit himself on fire instead and ran screaming and running as he burned out of the restaurant. The cops questioned him, he confessed and she drove to a bridge in Vancouver and committed suicide. Very Coen Brothers- esque.

The weird thing to me is that these guys seem like the kind of guys who would have lit gasoline on fire at some point in their lives before. Where the hell did they get the idea that you need 2 gallons of gasoline to start a fire? The amount of gas they poured on that couch power my car engine for 10 miles.
