Changing lanes, frick you I'm coming over in your lane and I'm not warning you about it. You can thank all the assholes that speed up when they see someone about to change lanes.

You sir are definitely the problem and sound like a psycho on the road. If you think people are consistently trying to keep you from changing lanes you're driving like a maniac.

Just described Lafayette to the tee. Rest of the state isn't any better, but the Thruway in Lafayette is like a three-wide NASCAR race. Only at 35 mph
Look at mister "we get to move at 35 mph" over there lording it over Baton Rouge!

BR is a fricking welfare/trailer park town, full of welfare/trailer park people, doing welfare/trailer park shite.

Br wasn't bad pre 2005. People from Nola considered it country. You had an influx of these people and now it is shite.

When the Stanford Group tumbled down it was responsible for 7 billion dollars in lost money.
Almost 1 BILLION of those dollars came from Baton Rouge and partial from Lafayette and this place didn't even blink.
May not know how to drive and traffic blows but poor it is not.

Baton Rouge should probably just stop trying to improve the roads at this juncture and just wait for autonomous vehicles to fix the problem. We're probably pretty close to an inflection point here where whatever 100 million dollar project to fix it will end up being wasted and unnecessary.
Knowing LA, they'll build the loop the same year it won't be necessary any more.

If this is true goodnight sweet Burbank. Those 5-6 new apartment complexes going up in the duration of 24 months without road improvements done beforehand is inexcusable.
AM traffic on Burbank this year is notably worse than last year. For one, the new light at Ben Hur looks like it's timed to favor Ben Hur vs. Burbank (I'm sure the developers of those apartments may have had something to do with it).
I'd like to see the city encourage LSU student housing development a little differently. Build up instead of out, and pack it in closer to campus. Give the students a chance to walk/bike wherever they need to go, give them a chance to stumble home from the bars without crossing multiple 4-lane highways. In college I could go weeks without needing my car, walking to/from class and stumbling to/from bars.
Putting apartments on the Southeast corner of the Lee/Burbank intersection and generating a bunch of traffic in the form of 1 mile drives where people still end up parking a half mile from their final destination is ridiculously poor urban planning.

I disagree. We have horrible drivers like other cities but the strugglers that you have seen for the last 3 months have been "mostly" out of state drivers who are working here and don't know the area well so therefore they drive slow so they can figure out where they are. Dumb thread.

Sherwood Forest between Airline and I-12 is the worst stretch of road in America.
You could take that road at 10am on a Tuesday and it would still be dead stopped at multiples spots.

1). There was absolutely no planning put into this city, zoning, layout, you name it, and nobody cares to fix it Instead, they think of it as normal. It is not, I repeat, not normal 2). Baton Rouge has some of the most insane, lazy, stunt driving, aimlessly bumping through life human beings on the planet, and they cannot drive for shite. Clearly heads and Tails The absolute worst drivers I have ever encountered in the continental United States of America. That is all… Like or dislike, matters not. Them is the facts
Thats all towns in Louisiana.

I'm not lording anything over anybody. I just want the people on the thruway to actually go when the light turns green. And go fast. Preferably faster than the guy in the lane next to you.

You will not find an engineer at DOTD that doesn't want to close Washington Street, build a bridge, build a loop, etc. Variations of theses plans have been proposed by DOTD for decades. However, when it comes time to talk about taking people's property the elected officials kill the projects. Engineers aren't the problem and drive in the same crap everyday too. When the Interstate was built we had the political will to use eminent domain; not so much now.

I grew up in BR, my entire family still lived there so I visit often. Have lived in Houston since 03. Let's settle this crap right now: BR traffic is by far worse. Mainly based on the first point of the first post, there is absolutely zero planning in BR
Baton Rouge
-takes a 3 lane INTERSTATE that enters the city and makes it merge into 1 lane that the mergers onto a STATE highway at a 90 degree angle. Welcome to BR!
Houston
-three (3!) Loops
-four (4!) major toll roads into suburban areas
-HOV lanes on all major interstates
-Established Park and Rides on all major interstates
-MetroBus and expanding Lightrail
As mentioned earlier, Houston Metro pop is roughly equal to La pop. Also, from Galveston to The Woodlands is akin to traveling from London to Scotland.....yet despite this our traffic at least moves......it's actually a logistical phenomenon that so many people can move around so freely on a daily basis

Also want to add, I work near the 610 loop, we have employees that live in 137 different zip codes, yet we all seem to make it on time everyday

Agree with everything, but worst drivers part. Those are in Tulsa, OK.
Specifically Broken Arrow, people don't look when pulling out into traffic, don't use turn signals, and the most maddening the bastids refuse to drive the speed limit and by that I mean they like to drive at least 5-10 miles under the speed limit.
