Looks like the spicer guy was the shooter.

quote:

Mark Spicer, of Covington, has been booked into jail on a count of first-degree murder of a police officer, attempted first-degree murder of a police officer, aggravated flight from an officer and possession of stolen property (firearm), according to Louisiana State Police.

These guys won't get what they deserved, which was to be bleeding out on the concrete on the scene. It would've been nice had someone come and finished them off.

I'm still very appreciative of what MPD has done over my life (even though they arrested me a couple of times). I wanna remind everyone they were there when people broke into houses, stole cars, beat women and kids, and even caught potential child molesters jacking off on the lakefront. A bunch of people have gotten tickets and pissed off, but remember how many crimes haven't been committed in Mandeville over the years. These two cops gave up everything just to be there for their city. The thread has turned into some shitty petty arguments instead of appreciation of the officers and anger towards the perps.

It sucks that they'll have their day in court, but that's the judicial system. Thank fricking God they are going to Covington for court, and not New Orleans. I'd chip in on a gofundme for the IV drugs to drop these fools. Put that shite on SEC Network

So he should've been in jail and this never would have happened. Oh wait a minute, I guess he was one of those "non-violent drug offenders" that I'm always told doesn't belong in jail.

Doesn't mean he should have been in jail.

No dude, that means he got pulled over and didn't tell them he had something on him. Have you ever dealt with Covington PD? Basically anything from weed to heroin can be schedule 1 depending on what the department classifies it as. Covington PD tried to get me with assault on an officer and took my pocket knife after I broke up a fight before they came there and slammed everyone to the ground. I had to pull strings to get the cop who gave me a black eye and stole my knife to apologize.

You should read the minutes or report before making a judgment. frick the kid, but none of the OT can say what turned him.

If you are one of those kids who hasn't ever done anything, you're what normal people call a "boy scout". My boss is one, and he told us we shouldn't ever drink, because it could inhibit our thought process. Nobody likes a boy scout

You sound like a guy that would scam a bunch of people out of a bunch of money. We can meet up and spend some time talking this out. I'm heading to Lamplighter in Metairie. *I'm here now*. Tell me where you're at, and we can figure out whose the most trailer trash via a drunk grammar competition.

If you can't look at the whole picture, you're small-minded. Idk how this kid got turned around. I went to SPS. I went to MHS. None of the people I know did this. I can't think of anyone I grew up with doing any such thing.

I would rather this thread be about the officers that spent time actually trying to protect the city, and my OP says that. They spent plenty of time actually meeting and greeting people from Mandeville. We always took them for granted until we needed them. This situation has hit my family pretty hard, and I know everyone in Mandeville cares and feels for these officers. Mandeville is a tight knit family. Quit being a douche, and take you're ice chest sales elsewhere

I dated a girl who went to Spring Hill, I don't remember there being a large contingent of disreputable people?

It's amazing to think that someone who went to St Paul's and Spring Hill wouldn't have the 2 brain cells required to know running from/shooting at police is just about the dumbest thing you can possibly do.

I always thought St. Paul's was the Jesuit of the Northshore and Spring Hill was the Loyola of Mobile.

These are expensive private schools right? St. Paul's is $10k and Spring Hill $40k. It's not like this guy is from the hood.

Do thugs really go to college? Especially one with $40k tuition plus dorm fees.

This dude is just a spoiled f'd up rich kid like that kid from Curtis who was randomly shooting people or the Menendez bros.

So by your logic I should still be in prison since 1995 for getting a busted at a Mardi Gras parade in Metairie for having a joint.

I'd say those are accurate descriptions.

I know of a few people from my graduating class who have been in trouble with the law. To my knowledge the vast majority has been drug related stuff. They had that big heroin bust a few years back.

This kid’s educational profile certainly doesn’t fit this incident’s outcome.
I mean, he’s been taught ethics and morality whether he wanted it or not.
He obviously didn’t learn it but he was taught it.
He’s been given every opportunity to make a productive life for himself but he blew it bigtime.

From what I’m hearing, the deceased officer was probably one of the most respected in the force and the community. Obviously, he has a large family left grieving.
His loss is huge in all respects.

This kid made a big big mistake

True. Mark Spicer deserves everything that is coming to him but his family will feel the brunt of it as well and they don’t deserve it.
