they never needed that many people to begin with.
I would say they need <7000 and >100

Most of the platform companies were very bloated, but it also takes more than a couple of baws.

But how is it not?

Twitter's revenue is in the shitter. With the ongoing recession, advertising budgets have been slashed like crazy. This is crushing all social media. Why would twitter be any different? Apple's aforementioned privacy measures have further eroded the value in SM advertising.

This isn't even touching the bot problem.

I don't think he foresaw 80% of the staff mutinying him basically. I am sure he thought he was going to go in and be the cool guy and everyone would kiss his arse.

Luckily for Elon there’s plenty of laid off engineers from all other tech companies looking for work

Sfp,

Don’t be a dick. I wasn’t predicting Twitter was done.

I was responding to YOUR post that he’d be fine if twitter went “100% tits up”

You: “he’ll be fine if X happens”
Me: “he’ll probably be upset if X happens”
You: you’re so stupid for thinking X will happen.

Is it? Have you seen weekly receipts?

Yes and no...have some cut budgets, of course, but others are choosing to spend that money in places where they get the best bang for their buck, and many people did well on Twitter. So, if you have been performing well there, then you're gonna keep your dollars there and cut other avenues.

That is not what's crushing Facebook.

Yes, but that started it, not compounded it.

You are taking my comments as absolutes - did I say Twitter wasn't going to see a loss in revenue? No.

What I said to you was that I don't think the situation is SO dire that many in the media proclaim it to be.

Could I be wrong? Sure, I could be. But I will bet 45 billion Elon dollars that it's really not THAAAAAAT bad.

He may indeed have underestimated just how bonkers nuts these Twitter leftists are. He may have assumed that most would want to keep their jobs, bc you know, normal people tend to try to keep their jobs. But these left wing ideologues were going to mutiny and quit no matter what he did. They immediately start shite posting about their new boss before he even took over. They have the minds of children and this is their temper tantrum although they think themselves noble martyrs.

It’s hardly Elon’s fault that he inherited an army of trash.

I haven’t read this thread but in Elon’s defense, I would not trust any of the employees there to be unsupervised under his new ownership either.

What a sad attempt at an apples to apples comparison. Comparing a primarily regional based message board to an entire social media platform with millions of users around the world.

Because its a platform with 390+ Million users and has over 200 million daily users? You think if Tigerdroppings had that many users that it would be able to be run by a few hundred people?

Hamsters do the heavy lifting.

The product is the audience, not the platform. If it actually goes down and stays down for an extended period of it could die. But if they can keep the lights on until they rebuild it will be fine

If you do your research he didn’t really buy it for the social media platform. He bought it for all of the data that is housed in Twitter's servers and algorithms, which can be fed into his Neuralink AI tech.

What do people mean when they say Twitter is gonna shut down? Doesn’t it kinda run itself? I feel like engineers are for changes not to just keep it running? I also don’t know anything. Hey
@elonmusk
wanna do a Twitter space with me? Im confused.

Someone set up one of those laser projector things at twitter HQ that is scrolling through various insults and slurs about Elon. I noticed Apartheid Profiteer and Space Karen.

I’m sure c on z has unplugged and plugged his router in to get the WiFi to work enough times to go into the details on how traffic is routed through the Twitter servers and how many manhours it’ll take to maintain the code base.
