I do personally know the person who owns the wheelchair. They would like to remain anonymously until they can take legal action. I would never use this opportunity to scam anyone in anyway.

The chair was left on top of the stairs because she physically had to be carried down to use the restrooms. Which are only located downstairs

good thing the police are investigating. how many inanimate objects such as wheelchairs must be injured before we take action???

The reason it was even sitting there is that bar only has a restroom downstairs and the person who owned the chair needed to be physically carried down to use it. On top of that, chairs are expensive and are often need to be customized to that specific person.
Also, the guy who pushed it down? He was only there for hockey and this was already his second chance as he'd been previously booted off the ASU hockey team. frick this guy. He 100% should get kicked out of that school.

According to that thread, the wheelchair was owned by a female that had been carried down the stairs to go to the rest room.
So, the idiot broke someone's wheelchair.

I was thinking it was like a hospital level wheelchair. The story says the owner was carried downstairs to the bathroom. I don't know if it raises to police level but it isn't a cheap wheelchair. And dude just rolls it down for the f of it.

They should have to buy another and figure out how to transport her around until they do.

What if it was one of his teammates wheelchairs they were using for an injury and he was fricking with them? I mean I know they random lady on Twitter is super trustworthy, but maybe a little skepticism should be used

Will the club get some collateral heat once everyone comes to the realization that the club's lack of ADA compliance created this situation?

Bar will be questioned on why they have yet to install handicapped restrooms upstairs in 3, 2, 1...
To make this all about me, I almost fell down the stairs of the Poop Deck in Galveston last summer. There was no disability or wheelchair involved, just gin. A LOT of gin.

If the owner of the wheelchair isn't occupying the wheelchair at any point in time, unless they are sitting on a couch or booth, then they don't need it. The shite that gets people "outraged" in this country is getting ridiculous.

Oh, so he was just helping her out by getting it down there for her and the person who carried her down.
Sounds like a win-win to me

Apparently the wheelchair belonged to a girl who was in the bathroom downstairs. She had to be carried to the bathroom due to her disability and the wheelchair was left at the top of the stairs while she was in said restroom.
This is the kind of shite thing that should cause the kid to have the shite beat out of him for 30 seconds and then everyone go on with their lives. Instead, it will become an international incident (because he plays hockey and everyone knows hockey was invented in Canada)
Then yes, the twatter dorks are right - they need death penalty.

My personal favorite idiot on Twitter:
How's about THIS for an amendment to the ADA - "For the purpose of all violent crimes, mobility aids, prosthetics, & other devices accommodating a disability shall be regarded as a part of the owner's body."
Or whatever language would be necessary make this Assault & Battery 1.
