There was no controversy until he apologized for it.

Can't even eat chicken without upsetting someone now.

mean really...what would happen if he didn't? Like 7 people would stop using twitter?

That's what I'm thinking

In reality, he could probably live tweet a video of himself literally fricking a chicken biscuit and twitter itself wouldn't suffer at all

Uh.. who "forced" him to apologize? What would have happened had he not?

He sounds like a low-T moron.

CEO kind of made it a bigger issue. Would this even have made news had he never apologized and just ignored it?

No. He wasn't forced to apologize. He chose to apologize because he is an idiot and, as many fail to understand, twitter isn't real life.

I would really like to see the social media backlash if this took place.

Uh, no. Twitter is definitely real life in our society now. No question about it.

Also a former CNN broadcaster was contributing to the chastising of Dorsey.

No. It isn't.

At least not on national or worldwide scale. It is too easily manipulated.

Things that are huge issues on twitter when nobody gives a shite about them in real life.

Yeah that guy didn’t think that through. CFA is delicious, CFA is bigotry. Bigotry is delicious.

Right. As soon as you cave into these trolls they essentially own you and they know it.

Agreed. A certain subset of society, either due to business or vanity, has chosen to live and react as if Twitter has serious implications. We have 325,000,000 people that live here. Twitter has 69 million users...and half of them are bots. It's not an insignificant number that think Twitter is real life, unfortunately, but it's still a pretty small, but vocal subset.

Yes it is. News is reported off if it. Twitter moves markets. The president uses it to communicate regularly. It's helping to evolve the way we communicate. I personally can't stand Twitter and don't have an account, but it's simply a part of our society no, sadly.

It wasn't just a one-off group of DU dweebs. This sentiment is a "mainstream" viewpoint held among maybe 30-40% of Americans, but perhaps 70-80% of those involved in the media and our education system.
