Twitter Suspends, Quickly Reinstates Pro-Life Movie 'Unplanned' On Opening Weekend
So Twitter, and others, keep showing their stripes as they should be looking internally to check themselves. They keep adding up the reasons to be looked at.
This movie had trouble getting advertisers, had trouble being allowed to advertise, and got an "R" rating on what essentially is a Hallmark movie compared to what gets 'PG-13' or less.
I wonder what these social media folks did to the guy who wrote that nasty comment about the girl who was killed by the fake uber guy...

By who?
They're a private company, they can censor whatever the frick they want on their website.
If you don't like it, don't partake of their business. It's a simple concept with extraordinary power but it does require a little effort on your part.

With a federal exemption from libel laws because they promised to be a platform for all speech, not edited speech.
Just remove the exemption and they go out of business.

No. They lose their designation as a platform and start to get treated as a publisher if they begin to censor or decide the type of content that gets displayed.
They are required to remain neutral or they'll open a can of worms.

While this is true, I think most of the issue is from how they portray themselves.
Yes, they are private. Yes they can censor.
But MOST of this country does not know that. Most of this country is easily influenced by social media. Especially the youth.
I think most people's issue comes from the direct lying and misleading.
If they made it clear that they were liberally biased and censored conservatives, I don't think you would see this line of complaint very often.
But they are a wolf in sheep's clothing, and they undoubtedly have an affect on today's culture.
Just like the mainstream media before Trump finally removed the veil, and let everyone see the truth.

Anybody who cares about anything that has ever happened on Twitter is a dumbass.
Also, the filmmakers should have gotten Kevin Sorbo to play the fetus.

They probably just don't want to be associated with a shitty movie.

MLB is a private company too...but doesnt stop the govt from getting involved to keep it on the straight and arrow.
When you get to a certain size, and control national thought the govt does get involved.
A private company cant discriminate against people on the basis of yadda yadda yadda...sooooooo the "they can do it" argument is pointless.

It’s ok to call out double standards and spread the word to not use their grossly biased propaganda tool. Its called the free market and word of mouth. Deal with it.

Blocking or restricting political speech can potentially get them in hot water.
Section 230
Section 230
quote:
As Cruz properly understands, Section 230 encourages Internet platforms to moderate “offensive” speech, but the law was not intended to facilitate political censorship. Online platforms should receive immunity only if they maintain viewpoint neutrality, consistent with traditional legal norms for distributors of information.
