He needs to retire and sell the restaurant. Otherwise, he will be bankrupt within a year.
Ha yeah I'm sure a restaurant in Tuscaloosa that already might not have been friendly to black people is going to suddenly go under because black people are going to continue not going there.
Also this will have no impact on his regulars' views of the establishment.

For my money the best steak in the area is at Big Mike's in Moundville.
Logan’s steaks are mediocre, and still better than Big Mike’s.

I’ve been to many high end steakhouses in big cities and none have come close to places like we have here.
You should give them a shout out here. I'm in far NETx and while we have some great small town BBQ joints, a great simple steak is very hard to find. I don't get it. The best is at a bar, like, a hole in the wall beer joint in Longview.

And all of the employees, regardless of race, already know if this allegation has any basis in reality because they know him.

Maybe it's a louisiana thing, but I know some racist old people, none of who would be rude to anyone of any racist unless they are being trashy or have any issue sharing a meal with black people.
Hell some of the best meals I've had are when the black plant guys take a few of the white plant guys to all of their spots. Food, drink, hanging out. Given I went to high school with most of them a lifetime ago, I'll tag along. It's crazy the spots that exist that your brain usually just make invisible to you.
Same thing goes for when we take a few of the small town black guys out to restaurants they'd usually never eat at.
"Wtf is whipped provolone?"
...try it.
"This shite stanks."
"...okay.... I get it"
Or better yet, hand a black dude a blueberry bourbon smash.

More eye opening than the language is simply that a restaurant owner in 2024 would seemingly have an issue with white and black people simply sharing a dinner table.
I know a rural store/diner in the Ms delta that still has separate rooms for each. They do plate lunches for farmers. White farm owners/managers sit at table in the big room, black farm labor sits in back room.

i hope your suggestion was meant as sarcasm, because if you were serious, maybe you should be forced to succumb to a castration and avoid any chances of your bloodline continuing. There's no room for such stupidity!
It’s the only way to correct this kind of behavior which leads to the erasure of marginalized communities of color. It’s essentially a public crisis at this point

don't know...maybe he was genuinely pissed? He said he talked the place up to them, encouraging them to check out this restaurant, and then he gets confronted by the owner? I mean, I'd be pretty goddamned pissed off, too. Not sure I'd throw it on video, but I'd certainly have some words to say and never eat there again.
What I don’t get is who the hell goes up to someone they don’t know and uses that word? Even if it was in a joking manner. It’s just not commonplace enough these days to risk saying such a thing to a stranger without getting yourself in hot water

This could all be a setup, but if I’m the owner and I didn’t say that, I’m sure as hell gonna make sure those people knew my side of it. It is kinda crazy he just passively denied whole the other guy went on and on.
I don't think the guy is the owner. According to the video I posted on p 5, the blonde woman is the owner.

For the record, the guy who tossed out the hard R is from Pennsylvania. He married the owner after her husband died. The guy who called him out is from Alabama.
Now it makes sense. Stupid Yankee probably bought into the southern stereotype and either was trying to “fit in” or was genuinely shocked a white Alabama man would sit with a black family and made a snarky comment.
Northerners are assholes. Guy from NYC just moved here and apparently made an arse of himself at the academy to one of the teachers. That teachers father caught him in the road the next day and told him if he talked like that to his daughter again he was gonna ship his arse back to New York in a fricking pine box

We have Does in Greenville which is a pretty well known one.
Nola and Blue Biscuit in Indianola.
Hometown and Town Market in Inverness
The Pharm in Ruleville
5 o clock on deer creek is excellent for steak and charbroiled oysters but you have to get there before the owner gets too drunk and starts passing around shots of Jim Beam to everyone and forgets to watch the steaks

He said she said. But it is pretty telling that the owner didn't even try to deny or defend himself one time.
Suspicious, but not conclusive enough for me to call him a racist. Completely idiotic to not defend himself though.

Free speech means protecting speech you hate.
Free speech means all speech. Not just that with which you agree.
